Helen is THE best. The way she shows support and enormous amount of care for her student is truly amazing. Especially during such a challenging time, she created this amazing and supportive environment in her class where we can all express ourselves, sharing support, and learn. Overall, 10/10. Amazing class and amazing professor. Hands down.

Professor Taschian is one of my favorite professors at UCSB- she's one of the only professors I've had that been understanding with students during the pandemic. Lots of readings but encourages group work/discussion so it's not too bad. Participate and ask questions and you'll be fine. Weekly reading journal and one 12 pg final paper. no exams.

Took her as the last GE to graduate in spring. She forgot to switch my section at start of quarter and was content to fail me for turning in work to “the wrong TA”. TA didn't help + denied my participation until I emailed the department head with proof. Not a bad person just lack of awareness. Nearly cost me grad school + future. Not worth the risk

3-5 page paper due every single week with a 10 page research paper final. So much work for no good reason, but really easy grading if you turn everything in and meet the page requirements. Lectures are pointless but attendance is mandatory as they'll drop your grade a whole letter if you have to many absences. Easy grading but wouldn't do it again.

lecture was ok but tons of reading, oh and she told me after the quarter ended she did not accept my final paper because it was late (even thought I got an extension) and gave me a C out of mercy?

She lives in LA, so she doesn't really come to do lectures. She just does it over zoom in the lecture hall. Nobody pays attention in class because 1. She's on zoom and 2. She's very very boring. I think she's been
