Activist Anthropology . ANTH 102
Activist scholarship seeks to combine rigorous research and political commitment to achieve empirical and theoretical understanding of social processes. While open access to information has democratized knowledge production, academic work is still necessary to ask the questions and find the answers to address social injustice and inequality. In this course, we explore the methods and results of more than two decades of activist research.

this was the easiest class i have ever taken!! you learn so many interesting things and also get to interact/ meet so many new people since she pushes you to talk to someone new every week. everything was so straightforward and she is a very nice grader!
Professor Saldivar is a very wise woman. While I did find myself getting bored often (she would have students come up and present for over half the almost 3-hour class), when she did get up and speak, she had very quality input. Assignments were easy, you just had to DO them and the readings. Easy work, but attendance was mandatory!

Class I took isn't listed (Activist Anthropology) beware: For SJW's only. Entire class is based off of strong subjective opinions. Take the course if you'd like to visit crazy town.
I believe this was Professor Saldivar's first quarter at UCSB but she was great! The grade was based on weekly journals (300 words) based on the weekly readings, a final essay (out of class), and a presentation on one of the readings. She's an easy grader and cares a lot about the topics she teaches. She loves having conversations with students.
