In part I of the course, students will learn about the UCSB's approach to Statistics & Data Science and get introduced to the other Majors offered in the Department of Statistics & Applied Probability. Students will learn about PSTAT research areas and undergraduate research opportunities, and get exposed to the varied career tracks available to SDS graduates. Part II of the course will review the mathematical concepts underlying probability, foundational programming concepts in the context of exploratory data analysis & data visualization, and the data science lifecycle, targeting preparationfor pre-Majors going into PSTAT 8, 10 and 120A. Course includes Labs conducted w/Python Jupyter notebooks.

Prerequisites: Upper-division standing; consent of instructor.
