Tough grader, high pressure class

The teacher is extremely nice. His/Her lectures are well-organized, and he/she is very patient with the students. Although there is a bit more homework, it is all full of practical exercises that can help you master the knowledge points solidly. Moreover, the teacher is particularly friendly in giving grades.

Workload is on the heavier side but totally manageable and genuinely helpful—assignments are designed to make you practice and improve. Lectures are clear and well-structured. Grading is fair and generous if you keep up. The questions of his midterm come from homework. Truly cares about students.

I will say that Tsai's class is not that hard because he grades based heavily on the completion grade. However, this doesn't change the fact that the course is terrible: you need to do 2.5 to 3 times more homework in his class than in any other Ling 3B classes. Take Tsai's class only if you are willing to spend a lot of extra effort for a good GPA.

Do not take his class, especially online. Pretty inflexible deadline and is a terrible grader. He is like pretty hate student for no reasons. Do not take it.

He is approachable both in and out of class. There is weekly homework which will be checked in class, as well as 2 essays plus midterm and final.
