CollegeTsai's lecture is pretty good. He explains the concept and structure of writing reasonably. I am glad to meet with him in this winter quarter. I join his office hour once, and he gives me many useful advices:)
He is not qualified to be a teacher. He hates students for no reason. His grading system is quite different from what he stated in his syllabus.
The workload for this course is excessive, often requiring at least 7 hours each week. However, the assignments are absolutely not helpful for learning. He will give you a low grade if he doesn't like you.
Tough grader, high pressure class
The teacher is extremely nice. His/Her lectures are well-organized, and he/she is very patient with the students. Although there is a bit more homework, it is all full of practical exercises that can help you master the knowledge points solidly. Moreover, the teacher is particularly friendly in giving grades.
Workload is on the heavier side but totally manageable and genuinely helpful—assignments are designed to make you practice and improve. Lectures are clear and well-structured. Grading is fair and generous if you keep up. The questions of his midterm come from homework. Truly cares about students.
