Laboratory in Biochemistry . MCDB 109L
Laboratory techniques in biochemistry. Focus will be on contemporary biochemical techniques used in biomedical research including the analysis of proteins, recombinant DNA expression and protein purification, enzyme regulation, steady-state kinetic analysis and metabolic control. Emphasis will be on both theoretical and practical aspects.
Prerequisites: MCDB 108A or MCDB W 108A; and MCDB 108B; and MCDB 1A-1B. Completion of all listed prerequisites with a grade of C or better.

Pretty entertaining so it's hard to fall asleep in class. Admired by many students. I would take more of his classes just because he's one of the better bio/chem teachers at ucsb. The Midterm was fair. If you participate more than once he'll call you by name. Overall a super caring and down-to-earth professor that knows what he's talking about.
Tests were modeled after the practice exams, past tests, and problem sets. If you put in the work you'll get a good grade. Dr. Lew was an amazing lecturer. He was very patient and thorough with course content.
Lew is a decent lecturer, but tends to go on many tangents.
