Class is difficult to understand. There is no smart way to study for his tests, they are primary based on mindless memorization of really specific pathways that do not apply to other pathways. Lectures are unrewarding for tests and so is reading the book. The little homework is helpful but there is little you can do to smartly prepare for tests

He has a pretty thick accent and at times the language barrier is prevalent. He's a good teacher but your grade is really up to how much you commit to memorizing the material. His tests are hard so put in the work and you'll do fine.

"On zee level of RNA" is a phrase you will hear in your head (in a hilariously thick french accent) over and over again. HE IS VERY PASSIONATE about his classes and a very nice guy. I do find it odd that his research is based on RNA and the RNA world hypothesis (origin of life) yet he is a DEVOUT christian. He even devoted a paper of his to a saint

He likes to use the word basically, and told us how to make Mustard Gas like the nazi's.

jaeger is a very difficult prof to understand. He has a strong french accent and is pretty boring. he lectures off of powerpoint and puts the class to sleep and then wonders why no one shows up. I thought it wasn't too bad until i got my grade. Avoid him unless you speak french...

Passionate about science, but confusing lectures (think circular logic). The readings were insanely long, but the topics were interesting. For a freshman seminar, I didn't find it very eye-opening or appealing, but the class is easy enough (2 short essays on a broad topic, and attendance).
