The legal system is a core social institution in every human society. In this course we will examine and critique the communication events that structure legal interaction. In order to discern the effects of particular communication styles and expectations, our analysis will focus on three key contexts: the courtroom, the legal profession and the public sphere.

CollegeBest prof ever. If you need upper divs or just are a comm major... TAKE HIM. He is awesome and a great connection for other classes and opportunities. If you are interested in a law future, even better! He is so knowledgeable in that subject and it was awesome taking that class. Textbooks are two books from amazon or pdf's. Super easy and fun class
Dr. Linz is a good professor who is very passionate about the subject he teaches, even though his lectures are pretty boring. He does pop quizzes every week and 4 800-word essays throughout the quarter.
Professor Linz is awesome! He's super chill and passionate about the course's material. I recommend taking him!
Chill and cool professor.
My favorite professor at UCSB. Linz cares about his students and wants them to succeed in class and outside of class. He does contract grading so if you put it an effort and submit all your assignments you will get an A.
The best Communication professor at UCSB. We need more professor like him who genuinely care for their student's wellbeing and education. If I could I'd take all of my Communication classes with him. He is one of a kind and deserves all the respect. He is extremely passionate to what he teaches which is very important to keeping students engaged!!!
