An advanced graduate-level Creative/Critical Writing Workshop designed for those "other" creative writers and thinkers who want the (w)rite/right to employ language in original, innovative, introspective and embodied ways so as to respond to (and/or from) non-dominant locations of identity. The class will evolve and proceed based on the interests and needs of the class members, as guided by la Maestra. Primary texts for this course are students’ own writings, supplemented by additional works—poems, essays, videos, live performances, film, exhibitions, and artwork — assigned to provoke an(other) response. In-class and take-home writing exercises will also offer students multiple approaches to arriving at their material.

CollegeI really wanted to enjoy this class, unfortunately, it was made extremely difficult by Moraga's disorganized structure of the class. I could see the potential she has as a professor but for this class, it did not seem to work. She rarely gave lectures on things helpful for assignments. Instead, she would just assume we knew background info.
such a sweet and knowledgeable woman. not a traditional lecture structure, theyre more like attending seminars where she talks about her life/context for the texts and there are guest lectures sometimes. straightforward takehome midterm/final. most assignments require personal engagement with content. get prepared to be vulnerable in this class
Moraga is a very inspirational prof and truly cares about teaching. Lectures aren't mandatory but are still amazing to go to, especially when she brings in guest speakers. The class is definitely an easy A, but is worth caring about because the material is so important.
