CollegeProfessor Pulver is one of the best professors I have had at UCSB! I learned so much in 117, specifically tangible action steps that a lot of the more conceptual ES classes don't provide. I feel like I can now go into a conversation about climate change prepared with the facts. Pulver is engaging and understanding!
Very unengaging lecturer- reads off notes and pauses mid-sentence to recall points. Content is dull and mostly common sense for ES majors. No devices allowed and mandatory attendance, so you're stuck sitting through it. Homework is easy- mostly videos and an oral final with questions given beforehand. Easy A, but wouldn't take again.
This class offered such a shallow analysis of environmental issues, I thought I was going to get a lot more out of it than I did. Most of the readings were tedious and unhelpful. Half of the lecture material is just common sense for anyone even remotely interested in ES. At least it was quite easy
Very well done, interesting, semi-engaging lectures. If you focus and take notes you should excell. She was also very friendly and accepting of technical/personal difficulties.
easy to get an A and an interesting class, but honestly I feel like a lot of the things she teaches are just wrong like her math doesn't really check out
Her lectures were hard to stay engaged with but she brings some amazing guest speakers. I liked the way she organized the course (weekly videos, no midterm, group project, final). She seems super nice and she's extremely knowledgeable!! This course topic is just not the most exciting to me, but the topics are nonetheless really important to know.
