Professor Pulver is one of the best professors I have had at UCSB! I learned so much in 117, specifically tangible action steps that a lot of the more conceptual ES classes don't provide. I feel like I can now go into a conversation about climate change prepared with the facts. Pulver is engaging and understanding!

Very unengaging lecturer- reads off notes and pauses mid-sentence to recall points. Content is dull and mostly common sense for ES majors. No devices allowed and mandatory attendance, so you're stuck sitting through it. Homework is easy- mostly videos and an oral final with questions given beforehand. Easy A, but wouldn't take again.

This class offered such a shallow analysis of environmental issues, I thought I was going to get a lot more out of it than I did. Most of the readings were tedious and unhelpful. Half of the lecture material is just common sense for anyone even remotely interested in ES. At least it was quite easy

Very well done, interesting, semi-engaging lectures. If you focus and take notes you should excell. She was also very friendly and accepting of technical/personal difficulties.

easy to get an A and an interesting class, but honestly I feel like a lot of the things she teaches are just wrong like her math doesn't really check out

Her lectures were hard to stay engaged with but she brings some amazing guest speakers. I liked the way she organized the course (weekly videos, no midterm, group project, final). She seems super nice and she's extremely knowledgeable!! This course topic is just not the most exciting to me, but the topics are nonetheless really important to know.

Professor Pulver is very knowledgeable and clearly cares about the topic. Lectures were a bit boring hence the 3/5, but I would still take her classes again because she has a lot of knowledge to share. Definitely attend lectures bc the slides are pretty blank; it is what she says that you need to pay attention to.

She is so nice and a great lecturer! Lecture and section attendance mandatory but attending them and paying attention is really all you need to do. Assigns a lot of readings but not really necessary. Weekly online homework that's easy to get 100% on. Multiple choice final at end. Lectures can get a little boring but maybe that's bc it was at 5 pm.

A wonderful professor who genuinely cares about the material and students' wellbeing. If you don't attend or review the slides online you will fall behind.

Simone Pulver is an excellent professor. She goes deeper than just the subject and actually wants students to understand and care. I highly recommend business and envt- one of the best classes I've taken at UCSB.

Simone is super smart and it shows through her clarity and eloquence. She's also super sweet and approachable. The 8 reading summaries are fair, but kind of annoying if you're a slow reader like me. The case study project may seem intimidating but it was not bad at all. Attendance and participation do end up mattering, especially for the final.
