Really nice prof! She is so willing to provide you with help and suggestions for assignments during OH, and she responses email timely. She even provided extra credit to help you enhance your grade!! Really love her lectures and appreciate her support thought the quarter, and definitely will take her other classes if possible!!!
Professor G is the G. She's super clear about what she wants on your assignments, and if you go to office hours with a rough draft she'll tell you exactly what you need to change to get an A. She's also very knowledgable about law school, and the legal practice, so if you're interested in any of that it'll be an even better experience for you!
Dr. Genova is the most sweetest and caring person I've met! She is a tough grader and makes you work for that A but it's definitely rewarding if you go to office hours and review the assignment with her. She's a great person to ask for a LOR and truly cares for her student. The best professor I've had at UCSB.
Genova is the singular best professor I have had at UCSB. Period. She is so passionate about her work, she cares about her students and is always there if you need help. Will go out of her way to accommodate if you just communicate with her. She makes you work for the A but it is so rewarding when you score well. Prepared me so well for law school
She is such a passionate and fun professor! Harsh grader but really gives productive feedback and wants us to succeed. Super accessible outside of class and wants her students to have the opportunity to experience "law school" without having to pay 50,0000000000 dollars. There's a lot of work, but it's all manageable, class teaches you what to do.
She is an amazing professor and I highly recommend this class if you're seriously considering law school! She is a tough grader but it's not a hard class if you are very through when doing your papers! Definitely wouldn't miss class, every lecture is important to know what to do in each assignment!
NOTE: Do NOT take this class, if you are not heavily considering going to law school! That being said, Genova reinforced my plan to attend law school! Her grading criteria is very clear, she is a FAST grader, and she is always available to meet with students (SHE REALLY CARES)!!!! TOUGH grader, averaged B's the entire quarter but ended up w/ a B+
decent class. woudlve liked more experience with public speaking. prof is very nice and helpful, but is a bit high school-ish if that makes sense. class is pretty easy but she grades pretty tough.
Professor Genova is an absolutely amazing professor. She has a voice that forces you to listen in class and the group project you work on is actually really cool and interesting. She is an extremely picky grader, but this is the only class I have taken at UCSB that I feel will actually benefit me for years beyond of college.
She is super helpful and accessible, especially during office hours. She helped me with my résumé and internship apps immensely. The pacing and deadlines are manageable. Definitely meet all the draft deadlines for the business plan so you can get her help. Challenging enough class, great prof. No final. 10/10 great course.
Prof G is the absolute best. She will answer any questions, no matter how "stupid" or repetitive with a smile. She's an inspiration as a woman, mother, lawyer, and professor, and I am so grateful to have had her as a teacher. Do the work, try hard, and you'll see good grades!
Love her! She is nice, helpful, smart, and easy to talk to. Go to office hours and get to know her. Getting an A is not easy, but do-able if you work hard. At least an assignment a week and they require time and effort. Barely used the recommended text. Class did not really help my indecision about law school, but I still recommend it!
I ususally donot write comments on professor,but I 'd like to give her an solid A.If u wanna learn buinsess writing,take her. If u wanna get an A,donot take her since she is so picky on grading in purpose of pushing u to improve. After this class,u'l be a pro in business writing. Let's make ur resumre fabulous
Genova is one of my favorite teachers here at UCSB so far. Very informative and smart - even though I had no interest in law school at first. She is very nice, helpful and willing to give everyone a good grade. She is wonderful to talk to on your own time even if it has nothing to do with the class!
Great Teacher. Very clear, slides online if you miss stuff. Don't need book; the reader is a must. Penalizes for easily avoided errors; go to her office hours get quick help and guarantee you'll get at least 9 out of 10 on early assignments. Fair teacher class takes time. Pick group wisely; start your part early so you can prepare for questions
This was one of the most useful classes I have ever taken and Gina could not have been more clear or more helpful. I would definitely recommend her to anyone interested in taking WRIT 109EC. (For the record, I have no interest in law school).
She is very average as a teacher. She may think of herself as a gate keeper to law school. She prefers students interested in Law and is very unclear with instructions on assignments. Don't take this unless needed (writing requirement or law interest), very unnecessary class.
I took 109EC, 109L and 110L from Genova and loved every minute of it! She made me want to pursue a career in law and even helped in the steps of applying for law school. Her classes are very hands on and she the most approachable and helpful professor I have ever had. Lots of work but totally worth it!
Gina is an outstanding prof. Extremely knowledgeable about the profession and makes the class seem fun. I took 109 EC and L concurrently and both classes were extremely useful. I enthusiastically recommend taking a class with her.
Gina is great! Very helpful and lectures are very interesting. Make sure you get started on that business plan early though!
Gina was one of my favorite teachers at UCSB. I came back to rate her even though she is no longer a "current teacher" of mine because her class was one of the few classes I still remember the material from and used post-college for resume writing, business plan writing, letter writing, etc. She is an amazing teacher whom I will never forget.
She's informative and very helpful. She is tough grader though, so go over all the guidelines she gives you so that she has little to pick at. Great class.
Genova is my favorite professor I've had so far. She is the sweetest woman and makes the material really interesting. She makes you work hard but it's worth it because you learn a lot. I definitely recommend taking any of her classes.
Great professor, nice, caring, and helpful. this class is a LOT of work...something that surprised me greatly so make sure to put tons of effort into it from the beginning!
