Great professor, really engaging class. I never used the text book, but there was a lot of useful reading in the reader, doing the readings were pretty important for class as there was a one page write up for each section. Overall I loved the class
Good professor, interesting subject. There is a lot of information and readings to learn.
Pretty interesting class, 1 midterm, 1 paper, weekly section paragraphs, and final. Not too much work, never went to office hours, but the prof seemed nice enough
She is a good professor and exams were fair. Did not like the writing assignments. They took a lot of time but individually they barely impacted your grade. Grading on exams was a little tough but overall I would take another class with her.
Peterson is very helpful and nice...reminds me of my third grade teacher. She grades fairly and assigns a very doable amount of reading and assignments.
JP is cool. If you're in the honors section you learn more/understand better, but she grades harder than the TAs. Recommend going to class otherwise you will miss her commentary on images that will be your slide IDs on the tests.
Lectures were very well organized, and she was very helpful. Grading was a little tough, but if you paid attention and studied the tests weren't too bad. She handed out study guides for the midterm and final that were pretty similar to the tests. Also took the class on a field trip to the LACMA which was pretty cool.
Subject matter could be a little dry at times, but overall it was a good class and i learned a lot. She wants all of her students to do well so she gives detailed suggestions on your papers and exams so that u can do well the next time. Test can be somewhat challenging so take good notes and go to lecture and u will do fine.
subject matter was uninteresting so lecture was boring, if you take this class get in honors section and it will really help. She is a much better teacher to a small group.
A pretty boring class overall. The material was well organized and she made sure to tell you what was on the tests, but it was hard to stay awake in lecture.
She is very intimidating, I did not feel I could ask her for help at any time. Her lectures were well organized, but not very interesting. Would not recommend for a fun class, but it is not that bad if you HAVE to take it.
The class was dreadful to attend. The lectures were boring. There was no main focus on the reviews she gave us for the tests. When she told us to concentrate on certain material, it didn't appear on the exams. Hard to stay awake during class. She was too dry and never shared any of her own experiences. Avoid this class and any other she teaches!!!
Final tested the class on arbitrary images not very relevant to class and seemed like it was trying to trick us. Always seemed mad at the class and lectures either repeated or jumped around.
she is boring. nuff said.
The class was boring and I fell asleep almost every day, however the material was well orginized and the tests were clear. She gave you plenty of time to prepare and was a great teacher herself
Peterson herself was okay. She asks a lot to be remembered for tests. However, the actual class is HORRIBLE! The subject matter is really boring and I could barely motivate myself to to go to all the lectures. Take another class taught by her but steer clear from this one!
Excellent professor. Wasn't too interested in the class bf I took it, but she made the subject very interesting. She teaches you a lot in an organized and clear manner. Provides lecture outlines and practice essay questions for the midterm/final. Very helpful and wants you to do well in the class.
Boring lectures, class participation in discussion important. Tests were a little complicated. Had slides up that weren't even on the list to study from.
Lectures are very clear. The examinations are on overarching themes between the cultures. Not too interesting, but not too boring either.
I hated all art surveys before but peterson is amazing. very interesting lectures and I felt like i learned a lot. I would enthusiastically recommend the professor and the course
