A great professor who was so helpful and accessible during office hours. Though this class made me sweat for the grade, I definitely learned so much because the material was very interesting. I highly recommend it!
Relatively no homework for this class, graded on two take home exams (very easy), one midterm and final. Nice professor, but had a quiet voice so sometimes easy to get distracted in class. The subject material is very interesting though.
He has a mouse-like voice that is like melatonin. People legit sleep in class :(. Boring, monotoned, would not take again. Just read and study his handouts, youll be fine
A straight-shooter, easy to understand and easy to do well in the class if you study and read. I really appreciate that you don't have to buy an expensive textbook, he has his own handouts that have everything. Exams are open-book.
Very easy course. Professor Raposo is very boring and simply lectures off his handouts. He himself is very redundant and lackluster in his teaching. Review his handouts and you will get an A.
I absoutely appreciate that he doesn't make you buy an expenive textbook/reader. All you need to know is given to you online in his handouts. Its not a difficult class but YOU STILL DO NEED TO STUDY. Easy to get distracted in class because he lectures quietly and doesnt look up, but just make notes on handouts as he lectures and it'l make easier
Eduardo is quiet. Most people use lecture to do work for other classes. His lectures are word for word from his handouts. The material is really quite easy and his exams are really fair. Pay some attention during class, review for exams, and you're good.
Very boring, he lectures from his own handouts which you can read on your own w/o really paying attention in class. 2 take home midterms, very easy. 1 midterm and final in class that you have to make sure you read for before. The exams take less than 20 min each. Exams are multiple choice/write in combination but the answers are pretty obvious.
This class was so easy. He uses handouts that he types up himself and then teaches off of those. No homework and no book. The class is pretty boring, but you don't have to pay attention because everything is on the handouts. There's two take -home midterms and one in class, all super easy. Its an interesting class for spanish majors or minors!
This has been my favorite class at UCSB. Class is easy and interesting. No textbook or anything, he gives you handouts as reading material. He goes over every handout in class but helps you comprehend it better. Two take-home exams with about 15 questions, midterm and a final. All the same format. Super easy but you need to study.
Very soft spoken teacher. He's not clear on his lectures, and doesn't even make eye contact with the class. Students were in their cell phones/laptops (doing non school related work) and he didn't seem to care. He's a good guy though and easy grader :)
A soft-spoken rambler who takes too many opportunities to go on tangents. I have no doubt he's a great guy but he's just not very skilled at explaining concepts.
Fist of all, he's Portuguese teaching a Spanish class so he may have an accent but it's pretty decent and understandable, but he explains everything from his reader which is not bad at all, his tests are to the point and not confusing, pretty easy class. overall he's an ok professor
He is very clear on what he wants students to do which is attend class everytime and take the tests. In total, I had 3 tests open book. But he's kind of a harsh grader. Any mistake and he will take several points off. Dont be absent!
He is very soft-spoken which makes it easy to tune him out during lecture. He lectures straight out of the reader. There are two take home quizzes which are cool, and a midterm and a final. Not the best professor but easy enough...
He is a pretty cool guy... he explains concepts in depth because he seems to care about his students learning. He is easy. However, he plays favorites (those students who participate), so, make sure to participate a lot. Just ask him hard questions, he likes that.
Very clear and easy professor. His spanish is fine, easy to understand. All you really have to do is go to class, sign the attendance sheet, and listen to him read the reader to you and basically you can get an A, the tests are super easy. I liked him, I would take him again.
WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. DOESN'T EVEN SPEEK SPANISH AND BARELY SPEEKS ENGLISH. DONT TAKE HIS CLASSES!!!
He's really not that hard at all. There's 1 take home midterm (REALLY EASY), 1 Midterm (PRETTY EASY), and 1 Final (PRETTY EASY). Overall, easiness is what matters most and it is pretty easy to get an A. All you need is 1 reader which is pretty easy to understand (and so is he). He doesn't mind if you ask him questions in English in class!
The worst teacher in the spanish dept. He plays favorites BIG TIME, so make sure you are on his good side. His lectures are very boring and in the end you'll feel like you learned nothing in the class.
Boring and talks too much
HORRIBLE. He is portugese, his spanish sucks. He is extremely unclear and confusing. He just lectures out of the reader, but takes roll. All you need to know is the reader info.
The course itself wasn't too too bad. It got very tedious at times with all the technical terms, but then again, it was a linguistics class. The teacher answers questions and clarifies statements fairly well.T here are 2 take home exams that you can answer everything from the reader. The midterm and final are similar to take home exams, but harder
Easy professor but not the most knowledgeable. Very interested in being correct, but often is not. All about the portugese pride, be prepared for a course on portugese even if thats not what it is.
