Lets just say I don't know how the econ department scored her. Smart, caring, inspirational. If even half of the professor actually cared about their students or taught like her we'd be top in the nation.

TAKE BREE. She's literally the ONLY REASON I passed the class.Everyone knows 10A is tough. Yes you have to study hard, and yes you have to put in the work or you are not going to pass the class. She's not easy but but makes the class bearable. She really cares for everyone one of her students. The best professor at UCSB. Go to her OH!!

Professor Lang is a kind and approachable professor who makes even the most difficult topics relatively easier. I still recommend attending the lecture and CLAS. The multiple choice exams were slightly different than previous exams used for practice (more math heavy) but is manageable. The final included both multiple-choice and written.

I took 10A in fall as a transfer and did not get the grade i needed, retook it with Prof Lang and thank god i did. Finally got in. Her midterms are much more understandable and she'll hint what she's gonna ask on the exams. I got a 9/10 and a 7/10 on the midterms. Final was def much harder. The grading for this class is all exams. Study HARD!

Great professor, genuinely cares about students. The course itself is just hard but she tries her best to help and has lots of resources available.

10A honestly was not bad. I know it has a reputation for being extremely difficult but this was my first time taking the course (a lot of people in the class will be retaking it) and with Bree it was a breeze. Go to lecture and pay attention, you don't even really need to study extra material if you understand the lectures and the section problems.

Easily the best Econ professor at UCSB. Makes lectures engaging, made a brutal class bearable, and explains everything very clearly. Doesn't just read off slides, in fact she tweaked the generic 10a slides every prof always uses and made them easier to understand. Super personable and easy to ask questions to. Econ dept needs more profs like her.

Makes material digestible and actually wants her students to succeed. Took 10a in the winter with a different prof and dropped it after the 2nd midterm because the exams were horrendous and lectures were useless. Ended with a B and got into the major after taking it with her. Her exams are fair, worded a bit differently than past ones but not bad.

Professor Lang was my saving grace for 10A. After getting a zero on my 2nd midterm, I dropped it Winter Quarter and felt hopeless getting into the major. I was lucky to have Prof Lang teach the course this Spring, and because of her I finished with an A. Make sure to go to office hours and ask questions because it really does help you in the end.

Easily the best Econ professor I've had at UCSB (took her for ECON 194s). Articulate, personable, smart...and actually good at teaching. If every professor were like Bree, the department would be 10X better.

Professor Lang is a great teacher if you attend the lecture. Some questions on the midterm and final were from the lecture slides. Would recommend!

Professor Bree Lang is hands-down the BEST professor I have ever had. She wants to help you succeed, yet she still makes her tests challenging enough to push you. She is so caring and level-headed, and a hugely positive addition to the UCSB economics department. 100B is brutal no matter what, but any class is better if Bree Lang is teaching it.

Bree is super fun and I wanted to like her. Unfortunately her tests were designed VERY POORLY. Questions felt AI generated (numerous typos, only peripherally related to all the practice exams/in-class problems, zero review) and so grading came down to guessing strategy. I wish she gave us actually relevant / more material + improved her tests. :(

Really good teacher and person. Practice problems she does in lecture are very similar (IN CONCEPT NOT PROBLEM) to exams

Professor Lang is the epitome of what every professor should be! Her amazing lectures are incorporated with humor, and her slides and practice problems prepare you extremely well for her exams, which are very reasonable if you actually understand all the concepts. She's the most caring, enjoyable, and approachable professor ever. Take Bree Lang!!!

I'm so glad to have had Professor Lang & to be the first to rate her at UCSB! She WANTS you to SUCCEED, and she is super accessible during office hours, friendly, and a VERY relatable and outgoing person. Her exams are ONLY tricky if you don't study—I found them to be EXTREMELY relevant to what's covered in the course. BEST ECON PROFESSOR EVER! :))
