Amazing lecturer. Heavy textbook use but it's interesting. Learned ALOT about the world I did not know of before. Only con is that she is very condescending. Some high schooler taking the class got the special snowflake treatment from her to make the class feel bad but people caught on and she stopped.

By far one of the best professors. Amazing lecturer. Only downside is that she sometimes criticizes the class.

She's a great teacher! If you don't like doing a lot of reading, don't take her class! Her quizzes come straight from the reading material. Essays are pretty easy.. Overall, an easy AND interesting class.

As a global studies major, I really enjoyed Darian Smith's class, although i think she oversimplified the information. Very easy class, though not sure if it was easy because i am very interested in it. She is australian and focuses a lot on Australian history, etc. Useful information and easy class for GE's. Enjoyed the class and TAs

After the law and society department was dissolved she was moved to the global studies department and apparently metamorphosized into an obnoxious, pretentious teacher that is completely out of touch with her students. I took global studies 1 and it was harder than any other intro class I've had. She makes you buy her book for this class, too.

I liked the readings for this class. Had a good TA, Eve was pretty good. She is sometimes unclear about what she wants, but mostly straight forward. The essay final wasn't too bad. Got an A+ in the class, but I studied extremely hard-no the reading material by heart.

Eve is a great teacher! The course material is extremely intriguing and relevant. There are weekly quizzes based on the reading, but they are fair and not too hard. The textbooks are good reads, and the paper was simple. It's a shame they're closing this dept!

best class ever!!!! thoroughly enjoyed it, had no textbook, just 2 small books and a coursereader, i love how the whole grade isnt based on final and midterm. she is so nice, lectures are fun, and material deals with things that aren't ancient. plays videos, make the subject super fun. take this class!!! i highly recommend it, she allows e/c!

I absolutely love her. She is extremely passionate and charismatic. I had no interest in law until I had her. She keeps lecture interesting and all the quizzes are directly from lecture notes, so its easy to do well. I love this woman and wish she taught more classes here!

Eve is an excellent teacher, she is very well educated, extremely nice and very willing to help student understand the material. It is a shame she had to leave UCSB. Europe in the Global Context was great, her books are interesting. All the complainers ought to consider easier majors perhaps, I hear they are offering weight lifting 101 in Winter

The worst teacher I have ever had, she is boring, dry and can not teach. This class was so bad I changed my major from Law and Society to Political science. Her final is stupid hard and asks three questions mostly not covering material she focused on. If yoou are a law major do not take this class with this horrible teacher. Not recommended at all.

DULL... oh and... we aren't in kindergarten anymore, so she should probably stop teaching like we are... "ok kids, now what is law?" "rules? good. people? good. democracy? sure."

Eve is the nicest prof I had. She's really interesting and she enjoys hearing what you have to say. Her class is like a giant discussion and I learned a lot!

GREAT PROFESSOR. She is very knowlegeable, engaging, and thought-provoking. Overall brilliant teaching, however, it seems that this class was only for those serious or willing to learn about the law-since it's not an upperdiv class, it's just an intro. But you must do the readings to do well. Videos and speakers were helpful. Too bad she'll be gone

DID NOT LIKE THIS CLASS, I learned nothing!!! VERY VAGUE!! But honestly it was kinda easy. The curve screws you! No midterm, 6 quizes (you have to READ!!!), final was 3 essay questions, not too bad, but again very vague. I went to all classes and did ok on quizes and still got a B bc of the curve.

weekly quiz to force you to read, hard final with no help on what to study. CRAZY bad curve that screws everyone over in such a large class. ONLY take this class with her if its for your major.

Good class, no midterm, fair grading system even with the wack mandetory curve. Great professor, sad to see her go, and I love her accent!

She is the best professor I have ever had! She uses many different approaches to teaching and is always open for discussion as well. Her quizzes are extremely fair, and she is always available to help and assist students. TAKE HER CLASSES!!! just an AWESOME PROFESSOR and EVEN BETTER PERSON.

A really interesting and brilliant lady. Fascinating teacher with current topics and a broad knowledge of history.

She is awesome, really nice and her classes are very easy. She gives weekly quizes on the readings but no big tests and her final paper is really easy. Get to know her, she is very smart and really cool.

Eve is a great teacher. She doesnt teach the same old class that you get from most professors. You will really enjoy her class

This lady is HORRIBLE. she is off topic, not clear, changes her mind and is subjective. her quiz answers are so hard to get because she doesnt even really know what she wants out of the question. she doesnt teach but lets her TA's do it for her while getting a good salary. what a waste!
