I really loved taking PSTAT 120C with Professor Miller! It really made me interested in the stuff we learned in the class and the homework wasn't too bad, as long as you put in good effort! The exams were kind of the tough part for me, but as long as you review in depth the concepts covered in the class, it shouldn't be too bad and very doable!
This is the professor you want for any PSTAT class. Lectures explained topics to a tee and there was never any sort of curveballs on homework or exams. Clearly cares about their students and was very realistic in their content and expectations. This department needs more professors like this.
Professor Miller truly cares about each of their students. The lecture material was explained very well, and the lectures were interesting and funny. Professor Miller is extremely passionate and does a very good job at keeping the lecture enjoyable. The class was not too difficult, and review sessions and practice exams were very helpful.
This is a teacher that cares. It's not a super difficult class but there's a decent amount of homework. They present the information very clearly in each lecture and prepare you well for the exams. Super friendly and helpful. The class material itself is a bit boring but they do what they can to make it an engaging learning experience.
they clearly care about their students' success. its an easy class, but there's a good amount of homework
I got a C+ and it was only becuase I didn't go to lecture as much as I should have. This class is extremely easy and passable if you study concurrently, literally you will only get an A if you go to class.
This class was fairly easy. I STRONGLY encourage actually taking time on the weekly homework assignment, and making sure every problem is understood. Slides and recorded lectures are posted if you are not able to make it to lecture. Section attendance is required. Actual tests are not bad, just do practice test. Overall great professor who cares!
easy A, good lecturer. lots of hw, easy tests
I feel like this class is harder than most people say it is. There are so many little niche things about stats you have to really write down everything in lecture and make notes on what you did wrong on homework to really understand, as even the wording can mess you up. Miller clearly cares though.
I liked this class a lot, the only thing I was stuck on was the coding but honestly the class is so easy. Just do the practice exams and make sure you really study the notes. Also do the homework everyday and don't put it off because the coding makes it confusing.
Amazing professor! Teaches 120A only in the summer, so don't miss it if you need it. Lectures are amazing, exams are fair with a clear and helpful formula sheet. Does not give A- B-, etc simpliy because they don't like it (90+ is an A, same for other letters). Overall an amazing professor. Also provides many insights on academic life in general.
The lectures are very boring but the professor is very passionate about stats! Focus hard on the language you use when writing on midterms and finals, the professor will mark you down if it's the wrong wording. R coding might scare you at first but it's just tedious. Make sure to complete all reviews, it'll help you a lot for the tests.
Professor Miller is an extremely caring professor and the class is easy to receive an A if you put in the work (which I did not, whoops). Lectures aren't mandatory and are dreadfully boring, but they go through many example problems to help grasp concepts. Sections only helped with homework but literally had zero correlation with lectures.
Professor Miller is amazing! The course is graded on ECoach journals, section participation, homework, two midterms, and a cumulative final. The lectures were engaging, but attendance isn't mandatory! Lectures are recorded and then posted on Canvas with all review w/s as well. I would say the class is very easy if you put in the effort!!
They are an amazing professor and they always make sure to keep lecture engaging to the students. They are really passionate about their work and they are AMAZING at explaining the little things!
Miller was great. They were super nice and good professor. they made the class super accessible, and really wanted their students to succeed. Two midterms and one final. some R assigments. section mandatory. Final can replace one of the midterm grades. mostly open response. They were great, would take again. very fair class and descriptive notes.
Professor Miller is an amazing professor who is always willing to help their students. They structure the class around the students needs and truly cares. I would definitely recommend taking their class because it is a fairly easy A as long as you complete the homework and look over the lecture slides.
Prof. Miller was AMAZING! Tests were extremely similar to the practice exams, and slides were always posted and very easy to follow. The homework was pretty chill, just an assignment once a week. If you have to take this course I highly recommend Prof. Miller, they were awesome and made me actually enjoy stats.
Not a hard class. this issue is that lectures are WAY to long for the content taught. The proffesser goes to slowly for most people and the slides could be cut down and simplified A LOT. but its an easy class and Miller tries to make it intresting.
Great professor! They made lectures easy to follow and the material/ hw was very do-able outside of class. Office hours were a great way to receive pretty much one on one help. Practice exams were very helpful and as long as you review, class is very manageable.
Pretty easy class. There is are usually only two homework assignments a week and both are usually pretty easy. They post all the slides and annotations on Canvas so you don't have to attend lecture if you don't want to. Midterms and the final are decently simple and all the information you need for them will be on previous homeworks.
Lectures could be boring at times, but Prof Miller is witty and does their best to keep things interesting. There are weekly homework assignments, two midterms, and a final. As long as you do the practice exams, you should be fine. I found sections to be a complete waste of time but that depends on the TA.
PSTAT 5LS with Miller is a walk in the park. They are super understanding of life situations, have very clear lecture material, and great practice material. They implement several "lowest grade dropped" for homework, section attendance, and journal entries. Literally just do the practice test and review lecture notes and you'll be golden for exams.
Prof. Miller was a great professor. Their tests were fair and sections helped my understanding of the material a lot (not a waste of time to go!). Overall minimal effort needed to still be successful. Also, to get full credit on homework go to office hours to check your answers.
