Great lectures. The lectures do a great job showing the connections between different topics, which is key for understanding the material. The midterm was not very hard if you spent a good while studying and were efficient about how you studied. The final was a little tougher, but basically the same difficulty as the midterm.
Prof. Tian's lectures were incredibly clear and easy to understand, although his handwriting could be a tad bit better. He also gave a really good effort ensuring that we understand the material. The weekly quizzes and post-lecture homeworks sometimes felt overwhelming, but helped immensely with the tests. Overall pretty fair class.
Although the homework are lot and they're difficult, we can learn a lot from the homework. Weekly quiz and drop two lowest quizzes. One midterm and one final exam are fair. Professor Tian will provide Practice exam before the real exam. The problems in the practice exam is pretty similar in the real exam with only 1-2 different problems

soooooo good yeah the hw is hard but it's also damn effective, you do learn a lot
Lectures are not organized and only go over simple examples. Homework problems are very difficult, and most are not covered in lectures. Three time-consuming homework assignments are due every Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Tests are relatively easy and fair, but I don't think one can learn much from his terrible lectures.
Tests are easy and fair BUT gives very difficult hw questions sometimes not covered in the lecture. Happened to have a pretty hard problem with over 20 questions. I worked for over 1 hour, tons of attempts, to figure it out. Then he said before the deadline move this one to the next hw, so I MUST REDO it. Awful experience.
Effective teaching! Gives examples and vivid explanations during the class. Don't even need to take notes because he will upload concise lecture notes on Gauchospace. He allows dropping the 2 lowest scores on quizzes and homework. Easy exams. Very accessible and patient after the class.
Gives out 3 homeworks (6-10 questions) a week, homework was probably the hardest part of class, the midterms and final were fairly easy, you are given a practice exam that is almost exactly like the test except for maybe 1-2 questions. He does crack jokes which helps with lectures, he does have messy handwriting. Weekly quizzes drops lowest
Very heavy accent, unorganized notes, 3 times of homework a week, lectures and homework are not related, very hard to understand him.
