By far my favorite Stats professor. Took him for 120A, 160A, and 170. Got at least a B in every single one. Posts all lecture notes online, so you don't have to show up (worked very well with my busy schedule). Tests take up around 60% of the grade but they're very similar to the reviews he posts, and he almost always curves the class average.

All notes are online, midterm and finals are similar to practice midterm and finals.

Zimu is a great professor. The tests were reasonable, plus he provided practice exams for us to study from. His lecture notes are straightforward and are always related to the homework assignments and exams. He is also quick to respond to emails. Not much more I can ask for from a professor.

I have to admit he is super nice, and his lecture slides are, often times, clear and serve as great study materials.

The concept of statistics was not emphasized throughout the course. The midterm exam was purely about small calculus tricks from Math 3A and 6A. To better prepare the students for industry, this course should focus more on the framework of the Stochastic Process, rather than repeat what a calculator can do.

Was not a big fan of his lectures, but he posts all notes online for you to utilize. Material is tough but he is very responsive to emails and questions. Exams were doable with enough studying and hw helped for exams. drops two lowest hw and had an overall curve at end of quarter.

Zimu Zhu is one of the best professors I've ever had at UCSB. PSTAT 160B is a challenging class but Zhu tries his best to help with any questions or concerns you have in the class. His exams can be challenging but as long as you read the lecture notes or understand the homework you were assigned, the exams should be doable. Responsive to emails.

He just mumbles and writes exactly what he posts online on the chalkboard and doesn't stop for people to ask questions. He makes things much more complicated than they should be and is difficult to understand. Exams were similar to homework and there was not much work assigned, mostly independent study.

I think that he teaches 160A pretty well. All the notes are available online, so you can probably get away without attending any of the lectures at all. He did go over all the topics quickly, but he was super helpful outside class. The two midterms were quite challenging, but there was a curve at the end.

I love this professor! Zimu Zhu taught very well. Even though he had a different style from other professors, what he said was very direct and easy to understand. He made long and helpful notes to review on the website. Also, exam questions are highly relevant to what you have learned.

Overall he is a very nice person. He replies to emails very quickly, which was very helpful when I was working on my project. His lecture note is well organized and the hand writing is fairly readable and clear. The difficulty of exams are reasonable, especially comparing to physics courses I've taken.

He is not a nice person at all. Not negotiable and not caring of his students.

The topics of this class are pretty difficult but the lectures are good so it isn't hard to understand the content of the class. The midterms are difficult but he posts a practice midterm for each one, and there's no final so thats cool too.

He is a fair grader and nice guy but lecture are terrible. He posts lecture notes online and then writes them word for word on the chalk board while mumbling at the floor. He does not pause to answer questions and using fancy terminology that just confuses you more. I went to see the tutor; she is the only reason I was able to learn the material.

Excellent Professor.

The Lectures are very clear and notes are sent out to students that help with review. The midterms are really hard but he curves pretty hard too so as long as you do the best you can and apply what you learned in the lecture, you should be fine. The homework and projects are very manageable. Overall, a great experience outside of the midterms.

The midterms were really really hard and we had no practice exams, drops 2 Homework, and had a final project instead of a final. Thought I was going to fail the class but the massive curve at the end saved me. The lectures are easy to follow.

Very unfair exams. Rest of the class is fairly straight forward. Did massively curve in the end though.

The course is math heavy but you learn a lot. Plus, the work load is pretty light. Additionally, the professor provides a pdf of his lecture notes, making it easy to review and follow along. He is extremely friendly, if you talk to him after class.

Midterm for this class was not related to the homework or practice problems at all. Much more difficult than either as well. Completely regret not just waiting to take this class in the spring or fall quarters with different professors.

The exam is extremely hard. Much harder than homework.
