Abdullah is a caring professor who clearly communicates expectations and offers valuable advice. His passion for teaching keeps students engaged, and he genuinely wants them to succeed. While his classes can be challenging, success is achievable with effort and commitment. I highly recommend his courses for a supportive and enriching experience.
Seemed to be gatekeeping the major, wouldn't give a good or even decent grade no matter what i did. Avoid this guy if he's your ta just drop the class.
Abdullah was my favorite teacher this semester, he cares about his students, is willing to work with you, and is very flexible but has good control over the class. It is clear to everyone that he is very passionate about communication and works hard to get his students excited. He makes sure everyone in the class is comfortable with lots of laughs.
Abdullah is genuinely one of the best, most caring and inspiring professors I have ever came across at UCSB. He had so much deep care for each of this students, which is not something you find with every professor. He was a great lecturer with really interesting content, and showed up every day with positivity. I would 100% take him again.
I would highly recommend Professor Salehuddin. This course was absolutely manageable and, overall, he is a very kind, passionate, and caring Professor. He cares for his students as individuals and makes the course content easy to digest. Group Project was a big part of grade, but putting in sincere effort and having fun will ensure a good grade.
I would take this course again 100%. Super interesting lectures, group projects as final, and small quizzes instead of tests. If you can take him definitely do, you won't regret it. Very caring and one of my favorite classes this far
He is super understanding and straight up. He respects his students and cares a lot about our well-being and success. Attendance is mandatory and you speak in front of the class twice. No final, just speaking. You will not regret taking his class. 100/10 recommend.
This was by far my favorite course that I have taken in the communication department and at UCSB in general. This class relies heavily on extemporaneous public speaking which I had no experience prior, but the feedback and tips that Abdullah gave were phenomenal. I loved having the opportunity to conduct a speech on a topic that I cared about.
Gave really detailed feedback on all assignments. Argumentation was cool, puts you into situations where you have to actually perform (we had 1 persuasive speech and 1 partnered debate). I learned a lot about myself and how to combat performance anxiety. Just follow the directions and you should do well. He's also really nice and pretty funny!
Abdullah is the best TA I've had at UCSB. He actually provides valuable feedback on your assignments and is really understanding if a student's facing difficulty. Moreover, he really knows Communication super well, so if you are looking to actually learn as an undergrad, take his classes!
I had Abdullah as my TA for Comm 89 and he was absolutely incredible! He made learning communication fun and I always looked forward to being in his section. I know he's going to do incredible things here at this university and is definitely someone that everyone should try to take!
What a terrible professor. Has an ego and an attitude, his a brand new professor. when asked for clarification in person he says "maybe you should look at what I have already posted" acting as if I haven't already looked at what he posted. There is a reason why I'm asking. I have a 3.89 at ucsb and he grades so hard and does not like helping.
best comm prof ever! gives valuable feedback on paper outline
I had him as my TA and I absolutely loved him! Was super kind and gave great advice, very caring and understanding. I know others had problems with him as a grader, so make sure you work hard and go in for OH, he is always willing to help. Really helped me love comm
As a TA during the pandemic with zoom, he went out of his way to engage the class. My class was pretty dead but he offered kahoots, group activities, and surveys to keep section fun. He gives excellent feedback to help you improve your writing in the major (since it's pretty competitive). Very kind and cracks jokes but also professional.
