This professor pushes propaganda under fake academic teaching and discriminates heavily against people with opposing political views

Professor Chua is probably THE best professor I've had in my time at UCSB- definitely take 130 with her if you have the chance! Attendance isn't mandatory per se, but there are a handful of pop quizzes given during lecture so it's good to show up. She's so wonderful and makes an effort to get to know all their students even in a large lecture.

Best professor I have ever taken, 10/10. Her lectures are genuinely interesting and teach about the current state of the world. The pp-quizzes are light if you did the readings (and pretty forgiving even if you didn't). Tests are graded harder than the quizzes, but still completely doable. Couldn't recommend Chua enough!

The best professor I have had at UCSB. Recommend so hard.

Took this class my first quarter at UCSB, and to this date it's still my favorite class I've taken here. The course contents are interesting, but Prof. Chua is absolutely incredible and I truly think the way she presented the material is what made it such an amazing class. Do all the readings and you'll do well.

Super engaging lectures. Allowed handwritten notes on tests, which had minimal MC and longer essay questions. Grade determined by midterm, final, and paper (which is four pages, not long). Readings were long but worth it to do them, but you can skip two or three. Didn't know what global was before this class but really ended up loving it

She is clearly very passionate about global studies and shes an amazing lecturer. She is also very funny and entertaining, so I enjoyed attending lectures. For this class there was a lot of reading and I found that you must do the reading in order to do well on the midterm and final!!

She (& this class) is INCREDIBLE! Lots of dense & interesting reading, but she's very understanding and cares about our well being. If you do the readings & minimal studying, I think it's fairly easy to do well on the exams; the writing section is pretty heavy, but nothing crazy if you've prepped. I learned so much in this class & highly recommend!

I have such deep respect for Professor Chua. Her lectures are amazing. This was not an easy class. Most of your grade is a midterm, paper, final and participation matters. But I found her presentations fascinating and felt inspired to understand what I can do to make the world better. I will def take more Global classes and hope to get her again.

Such an amazing lecturer and speaker. She really is knowledgeable about her field and makes lectures really interesting/engaging. There's a good amount of reading per week, but most of them are interesting. It's not an easy A class but one of the most interesting classes I've ever taken.

really interesting class but content but was pretty theoretical and difficult to grasp at times. prof cares a lot about her students' needs and is super passionate and knowledgeable. assigns a lot of complex readings and iclicker questions for every lecture. paper, midterm, and final make up almost the entire grade.

Professor Chua is a great professor who is very knowledgable about the topic of globalization. However, the course is very conceptual and can be hard to digest if you are not super passionate about globalization. The tests are writing based, they are easy to pass but hard to get an A on. Don't take this class expecting an easy A.

I found the topics interesting, however I can't say that I took anything away from the class. Grades are almost entirely based on a midterm, paper, and final. I-clicker participation is required. After taking this class, I decided that I definitely do not want to be a Global Studies major.

Pretty demanding class, lot of readings, covers a lot of topics. However Prof Chua and her TAs are amazing, they're paying attention students' demands. She knows her material and is a good lecturer. Always Iclickers question so quite annoying. 1 big paper but workshoping during quarter, final/ midterm are MCQ and short essays/ answers (open book).

Even though this class doesn't count for Writing Requirement, a big portion of this class revolves around writing a big paper that is edited throughout the course. Besides that, Chua is an amazing prof who knows her material! She delivers super interesting lectures that make it easy for everyone to follow along, you have to do reading before them!!

Prof Chua is very understanding of her students and wanted us to succeed. The readings were a lot but I only did some of them and still performed well from looking at lecture material. Lectures were pretty interesting but iClicker was used so you have to go to get participation. Material is pretty biased but whatever.

I took this class for a GE credit and it was a lot more work than I was expected. I would only recommend this class if you have an interest in global studies since it is rigorous. Professor Chua is a great lecturer and really engages students. However get ready for lots of homework readings that are difficult to comprehend, might take you all night

Absolutely do not take this class for a GE. It will instill a hatred for global studies into your psyche and you will never want to take a global class again. She assigns about four readings each week with about 20 pages each and they will take you all day to understand. All they do is read quotes from other people off the slides. Save yourself.

Professor Chua is a great professor with whom I've now taken two classes with. I am currently taking GLOBL155 with her and can vouch she is just as good a professor online as she was in person. She listens to her student's needs and is accommodating when needed. Go to her office hours and talk to her because she is a very interesting person!

Prof Chua is a gem. Lectures are engaging, she summarizes the important parts of reading in lecture too so you don't really have to read all that much. Exceptionally organized so it's very unlikely you forget to do something or feel you got screwed out of points. Extremely accommodating as well. Good class. also had her for GLOBL 197. Same there
