Prof. Rupp is an extremely easy professor; her class has iClicker, but as long as you do an alright job on the take-home essays, you'll pass this class no problem. She's a super cool person, so definitely take one of her classes, but honestly. her Powerpoints are completely useless.
Loved everything about Rupp's personality. TA was Lauren Clark and she graded easily considering everyone seemed 2 get A's on the papers (or we were all just really smart!) Lots of writing, but all on interesting topics!!! Take for a FUN class!! Wishing I had this class again, learned so much. Lots of laughs too :)
Rupp is a great lecturer, lectures are mandatory but you will want to go, material is always interesting. Grade consists of only essays, 5 I believe. Depending on the TA this class can be an easy A, I have a 100% in the course.
By far, one of my favorite classes taken at UCSB. What an intelligent, interesting woman. The books were actually very interesting, and the several short papers weren't too bad. There's a lot of freedom writing-wise. Love her.
This class is interesting and has good readings. She is a great lecturer and open to hear all opinions.we watched a bunch of films and she takes attendance based off Iclicker participation
Leila Rupp is a sweet, funny, and intelligent woman. She is always nice and available to help. Basically, she's awesome!! I'm very grateful to her for her wonderful lectures, which were funny as well as instructive and interesting. She opened my mind to new issues I never considered. ps. The drag queen show was amazing!!
Go to class. It's easy, but you know, it depends on the TA. I had Tracy and she's wonderful! Read and write well and you'll do fine.

A great, very nice and understanding professor. Reading is interesting, assignments are not difficult, and the prof graded easy in my honors section. There are no tests, just papers for the midterm and final with pretty easy questions. Also you get to watch lots of documentaries during class. An intersting class you won't need to stress over.
I was really interested in the topic at first, but the class ended up being nothing like I thought it was going to be. I absolutely dreaded going to class every day. Her teaching style really bothered me. The only perk was that she had a really adorable dog!
leila is SUCH a great professor. i love her and our whole class did. she knows her stuff, is always so excited about talking about the readings (interesting stuff, too!). she's really nice and i just love her!
She is a great professor! You can tell she is very interested in what she is teaching, tests are fair and if the reading is too much she might cut some out. Both classes were very good!
She is so sweet and nice and I really enjoyed this class. There is a heavy load of reading, but I thought that all the books were really interesting, so it wasn't bad at all. As long as you read, and can thoughtfully apply the reading, the midterm and finals aren't too hard- they are passed out beforehand.
great class, took honors, so didn't have to bother with the TAs. lectures are fun and if you have a good group discussion can be great! Midterms and finals were as difficult as you made them. prepare ahead and you will get an A
Its an ok class.. have to be open minded and attend lectures. The readings are very interesting i just HATED my TA. She was bitter and made section all about her. Plus really hard grader. More work than its worth.
good teacher but too much of a historian, and gives you too many outlines of dates and no details. Midterm questions were given before the test but questions were pretty hard! TA's are hard graders. This class isnt as interesting as i thought it would be, and much harder than i thought.
This was a great class. Take it if your open-minded to ideas and lifestyles different than the heterosexual, vanilla, white, all-american way of living. I don't understand why people like the person in the previous post hates something that is different. Readings will at times be challenging. TAs were great and Rupp is warm and approachable.
She's nice, she's informative, but I hated this class with a passion. The first few weeks feels like a blatant attack on heterosexuality, and I did not appreciate that at all. However, I will say that is partly the TA's fault as well (depending on the TA). Midterm questions are given before hand, and the research paper is choose your own topic.
This class is fairyly self explanatory even though it was at all what i had expected, but fairly intersting class. Material isn't hard to follow as long as go to class and take notes should be fine! Gives midterms and finals essay Q's before so can review which is awesome!!
shes nice, her lectures are kind of spread out for wmst 20. let us study essay prompts before midterm and had a take home final.
I thought she was kinda boring, but her dog was really cute. The lectures were kind of all over the place, too.
More tolerant than your average Woman's Studies prof, but then again, that doesn't say too much! In other ways average.
brings her dog to every class, interesting lecture, and made the final optional!
She was nice and made the class easy. That encouraged me since I was not very interested, I was just fufilling a requirement.
