She teaches the class like she's too good to be there. Explains concepts like we are already supposed to have mastered them, and the tests did not reflect the practice problems and testing materials she provided. I would strongly advise you to avoid this professor if you are an Econ major and want a high major GPA.

Honestly, don't go to class and just review the slides on your own. The grading is very clear, however it's weird. There are 4 tests and the lowest one is dropped which means STUDY HARD FOR THE FIRST THREE. I wish I locked in harder earlier so that I didn't have to take the last test. Her questions are also harder than the other profs.

Lecture and section attendance not mandatory. Lecture slides have all the info on them so it's not crucial to attend. Homework quizzes can be taken as many times as you want. Material was quite confusing for me and tests were a lot harder than homework.

Sections aren't mandatory. Can submit hw and projects as many times as need to get full credit. Gives a lot of practice exam questions. Three midterms and final, 15 questions each and thirty minutes to complete (drop lowest score). Lectures can be fast-paced and midterms could have oddly phrased questions. Prof had fire fits though.

She is a horrible lecturer, she is convoluted, spends 20 minutes on the easiest stuff and no time on the hard stuff. She also wrote her test questions in a way that made them more of a riddle and figuring out what she was talking about not about the actual knowledge/topics. She just doesn't know how to teach.

Econ 1 was a breeze. Lectures are fast paced but content was easy to grasp. Sections aren't mandatory. You can submit homework and projects as many times as you want to reach full credit. Gives good practice exam questions. Three midterms + final (15 questions each) but you drop the lowest score. Minimal homework and I finished the class with 100%.

Goes through slides really fast, not the best explainer Lectures aren't mandatory so I learned better going through the lecture slides on my own at my own pace. Says the class will be curved then mentions on finals week it will not be curved?

She is very bubbly and funny, however very vague and not great at explaining literally anything. Goes so fast through lecture and the test questions are very unlike the practice and are so few questions it is hard to do well.

Class wasn't super difficult and she taught slides well. Put in a little bit of work and the class is fine.

My best exam grade was when I stopped going to lectures and taught myself from the slides. Going to class doesn't help. Exam questions were tricky but the practice provided was helpful. I'd recommend CLAS tutoring and finding a good TAs section if you're confused because Taz doesn't help a ton. Interesting class content and fair grading (mostly).

Cares more about what she has on then teaching Econ to students

I am not one to hate on a professor but she clearly doesn't care enough about student comprehension. She tells students she tries to make the exams harder and takes back her promise of a curve midway through the quarter. Slides are a mess and had me going to outside resources to understand. Some simple changes to this class it could be much better.

you have to teach yourself everything outside of class. Prof is kinda mean in the way that she says the exams are easy when they really aren't and she keeps saying the class is curved, then in week 9 sent an email like baby there is not curve -- fits are fire tho

IDK what the negative reviews are about. She lectures well and is kind to students. If you don't get a good grade, it's entirely on you, tests are not hard, 15 Qs each and worst of 4 tests is dropped. Pro strat: review the slides before tests. She answers questions about tests immediately after them, which is nice. Honestly no complaints.

Continuing with the previous review, it's unreasonable to blame the professor for your poor grade. She lectures, provides practice questions, and exam review notes, and holds exam review sessions. Everything is there you just have to be willing to use those resources. Econ is conceptual so focus on really understanding the material.

I feel like all of Alisa's bad reviews reflect the person's grade in the class. 4 exams, 15 q's, and the lowest score gets dropped—simple and clear expectations. Not saying the class is easy but it's like any other class. If you put in the work an A is definitely within reach. Only you know how hard you worked. Nothing on the test is unreasonable.

take the other professor if you want an A, if youre ok with a B stick with her. what she teaches is on the test but her questions are confusing and nothing like the practice exams she gives. youre basically teaching yourself the whole time. tests are MC but she makes mistakes and tells you half way through the exam to correct her mistake.

Worst professor. Rushes through material to spend lecture time on examples that don't explain the lecture material she rushed through in the first 15 min of class. Claims the course is going to be curved before every test and during week 9 emails that there will be no curve. Gives 30 min for difficult 15 Q exams that require critical analysis.

Lit your teaching yourself everything, her lectures are useless when it comes to the exams.

Probably worst professor at this school, I have never heard a good thing about her or her class. Has stopped lecturing because she was BORED. Has said on multiple occasions that she has been reported by students and even said “You can try and report me it wont work,I always win.” She is the PROBLEM!

Don't this professor. She goes thru lessons extremely fast and vaguely goes over important stuff that will be on the exam. All the practice midterms she gives you are useless because they are nothing like the actual exams which are 10 times harder. You have 30min to finish a 15 question midterm that is very wordy and tricky and needs more time.

Love the fits, love the bob, she's chill, lecture and section are not mandatory, honestly focus on the practice exams.

Honestly, it's a tough class but I thought she was a good teacher with a good sense of humor.

All I have to say is if you can take this class with a different professor please do by far the worse professor I've had here at UCSB.
