The professor put in no effort. DO NOT TAKE HIM
Worst professor I've had. Unclear what was expected and extremely unrealistic grading. Provided little feedback on what to study. Avoid at all costs!
Easily the most frustrating experience I have had in a math class. Professor often changed or cancelled office hours, was unresponsive over email, graded tests harshly, and sometimes struggled writing proofs in class. He responded to requests for help with course content or for study material beyond his insufficient resources with condescension.
Very poorly taught. very ungraciously graded
The professor put in the least amount of effort into teaching I have ever seen a teacher put it. He was very rude to students when confronted by students or asked to provide more support. Exams and reasoning for grading were not provided. His clarity and mastery over the material was in line with his poor teaching
Course has very little homework and no feedback given. In essence, the only preparation for the final is some poorly given lectures
This course was extremely challenging and had very unclear expectations. I know he had taken two years away from teaching and this was his first course back, so it may have been just a transition. It was hard to reach him in office hours to get extra help. Additionally, it felt like the homework, lectures, and exam were fairly disjoint.
Deeply disappointing professor. Exams were difficult and graded harshly, email responses were extremely unsympathetic, and he was incapable of admitting his wrongdoings. His ego got in the way of his ability to teach this class and he did not care about his students succeeding. Avoid if you can
Don't be fooled by the old comment here. I think he lost his sense on teaching undergrad courses. Extremely difficult exams, disproportionate to homework content
Davit DGAF Harutyunyan. Grades harshly and expects a deep understanding of real analysis despite forgetting/messing up the proofs himself. Little to no partial credit on exams, doesn't respond to emails, and offers minimal guidance on studying for exams. He crashed out after asking us if his exam Qs were too hard and we said yes...? AVOID THIS PROF
GOAT
One of my favorite professors. He explains everything so clearly, and his homework and exams are manageable. He cares about students, and gives a lot of extra credits too.
this teacher is awesome. i loved him.
He is such an excellent professor! Clear explanation with patience!
Amazing
Math 122A in Summer (for some reason option wasn't available): The professor is organized and gives clear and concise lectures. He writes neatly on the chalkboard and explains concepts well and in a straight forward manner. The pacing of the class is good, and the midterm exam was easy and the final was fair and similar to homework.
20/30/50 hw/mt/final grade distribution. Clear lectures but a little dry/boring. Section is super useful so don't skip. Moderate amount of homework but not too bad. Midterm was easy and both mt and final were flat curved by 5%. Easier than other math 8 profs so I would try to go for this one.
50% final, 30% midterm and the homework was up to 90 questions a week. However, he teaches pretty much directly from the textbook, the midterm was easier than the textbook problems he assigned, and I'm pretty sure the final was curved. He lays all of the information out very clearly, but he's a dry lecturer, so go to section and you should be fine.
Very available outside of lectures, and very willing to hold more office hours to help his students. One of the hardest classes I've had, but the lectures were very clear and he was so helpful in office hours, I was able to make it through.
Davit is by far the best professor I've had in analysis. He's by no means easy, and in order to do well, you've definitely got to keep up and study, but the man cares a lot about his students. He's incredibly available and helpful in office hours and really puts in the extra effort to help you understand hard concepts covered in lectures.
The class was quite difficult, and took a lot of work but he was very helpful in office hours. You could tell he really enjoyed the covered material and was always willing to help if you sought it.
Very chill guy who's always willing to give hints/ help on problems during office hours. Tough tests and homework, but grades very generously. Often forgets/messes up steps in proofs during lecture, which can be kind of annoying, especially if it happens multiple times in one class. Overall was a fun class; looking forward to 201B/C.
Book we used isn't a book for learning measure theory, it assumes it, so that didn't help. I really just can't follow his teaching style at all, and he assumes we know too much. Kind of talked down to us after the midterms were handed back. Not a good experience.
the only exam is final and it's more difficult than the problems he did in the lecture. won't take his course anymore
