His lectures are clear and easy to follow. He does go over the material slowly and even told us that he doesn't expect him to finish covering everything. He does tell stories that are off topic but they are fun. The one midterm was extremely easy.

Lectures with practice problems and tells a personal story in between to keep everyone engaged. Definitely cares about his students and is easy going. Great professor!

Incredibly easy midterm. The final was canceled due to coronavirus. Homework (Mastering Physics) is much much harder than the questions he asked in the midterm and the example lecture questions. If you can do the lecture problems, you can do well in his class. Funny professor and he goes on tangents a lot. Very chill.

The homework was pretty annoying and difficult, but the midterm was incredibly easy. Sit towards the front of the class so you can read his handwriting since it's somewhat illegible. He definitely cares about the students and his stories are pretty funny. If you have the chance you should definitely take this professor.

Really interesting guy, sort of strange but nice. Lectures are a bit all over the place but definitely important since his exams are basically just the example problems he does. Super easy A if you go to lecture and do the homework.

Funny stories. Simple class if you pay attention in lecture and do homework.

Was worried about physics being difficult, but Giessinger is a great lecturer. He gives it to you plain and simple, very straight to the point. Sometimes his handwriting is hard to read, but he's always willing to clarify anything and everything. Inserts funny anecdotes to wake up students. Great choice for phy1

Very quirky and entertaining guy. Mostly spends lecture doing practice problems. Weekly online homework was much harder than the single midterm. Pretty easy A, especially if you remember a lot of high school physics. Definitely worth taking if you want an easy class, although not the best if you're looking to get a deep understanding of physics.

Very caring and easy professor. Can explain things that are complex in very simple intuitive ways.

Great personal stories to keep you engaged. Class was very easy as long as you had a very basic understanding of what he was teaching.

He's lecture is awful. He is a French guy and loved to talk about French stuff but not talking about Physics. He's office hour is not helpful.

He has decent lectures and includes some personal stories inside. The class itself is pretty easy so you aren't forced to have a super good grasp of the material in order to get an A.

Loses my attention in lecture except when he goes off on tangents which are usually funny, but makes me question why I even come to class. For the second half of the quarter, I only attended CLAS and I did just fine. Good class to take if you're just trying to pass, but overall not good if you're trying to get something out of it.

Attendance isn't required but he tests pretty much on what he does in lecture so its still helpful to go. Doesn't allow laptops. Tells a lot of personal stories and honestly gets offensive at times. Lazy but caring. Do the homework and understand it and you should be fine.

He's French so the way he teaches isn't entirely American but that's the good part - there's a reason other countries do better than us. He explains concepts clearly, and his tests are easy. I'll admit lectures can get boring because he covers material slowly, hardly does demos, and talks about his personal life a lot. Still a great professor.

I wouldn't say he gives the best lectures but surely he knows what he's teaching. The midterm and final problems are only based on the examples he goes over in lectures; they are really easy. Homework problems on MasteringPhysics are much more difficult. If you spend time and do the hw and review examples from the lectures, you'll get an A.
