She lectures well and has a lot of experience and it shows in lectures. I had her Winter 2023 and enjoyed her class as it was very straight forward. There are weekly quizzes and she assigns a hundred optional questions. Highly recommend doing all 100 questions a week as they are extremely close to the quiz questions. Overall not a bad course

Professor Grover is a fantastic professor among other lecturers from Econ Dept. For 137A, it is easy to get above A if you put some work into it, by really understanding the materials. Haters gon' hate, but you can earn 40% of your total grade by doing HW and up to 5% EC with attendance. Be ready for the weekly practice (helpful but dreaded).

She just expects you to put in so much damn time on this one class while you have other stuff and other classes to worry about. The homework takes 1-2.5 hours and then you have the weekly quizzes which are cheggable but they are chosen from a database of 100 questions for each chapter and for the final you gotta know your stuff so you can't finesse

Excellent professor who really cares about her students. She did a great job of explaining tough information in a concise way and made sure we understood her. I felt very comfortable to ask questions or talk to her after class if I was confused on anything.

She keeps teaching to the point and is excellent at making the theories practical. The gaucho space is very organized with all the needed resources to succeed in this class.

Prof. Grover is an exceptional teacher who genuinely cares for her students. Her unique approach to the accounting curriculum includes a group project that fosters connections among classmates. The homework and tests are straightforward, so long as one studies, and the course is well-organized. Highly recommend!

Grover is not a bad professor, but she sure does like assigning wayyyyy to many concepts on Connect. Her assignments are averaging roughly around 60 concepts, whereas other econ professors only assign about 30 concepts on Connect. In other words, be prepared to spend countless hours on Connect.

Prof Grover is a really nice one. She got a lot of extra credit for students and give you a lot of practices for quizzes and final. Participation is not mandatory but you can learn a lot from the lectures and sections. There will be 2 group projects, start earlier could be helpful and do a lot of practices.

An amazing professor that actually cares about her students. Teaches you interview skills, and accounting basics, and even goes beyond to make sure her students are doing well. Truly one of the best professors I've come across at UCSB, one of the few gems within the accounting department. Coincidence she's the most qualified as well? Nope, 10/10

Grover never responds to emails. NEVER. Attending lectures is useless either. You need to study yourself. Not difficult for an A

Homework, quiz 60%, project 30%. 100 questions homework every week takes at least an hour. 2 group projects with one presentation which I like. Weekly quiz is 10 questions with 20 mins, so you have to do to another 100 practice to quick response. Easy to run out of time. Interactive lecture was interesting, and she's knowledgeable and practical.

I was impressed by Grover when I took her class during Spring of 2020 remotely. On the first midterm, the class average was extremely low because of the lack of time we had to do each problem. However, she was understanding and increased the time for the next midterm and gave us 700 practice problems similar to the ones on the tests. She's fair.

She was so unclear with the grading, especially with the tests and projects. Grilled people on topics that weren't included in class during project presentations. She couldn't go a single day without making multiple mistakes in class. She would stare at the board for 5 minutes before she realized what was wrong. It was awkward and embarrassing

teaching is just an emphasis of memorization tactics and generic rules. She doesnt teach the thought process/rationale behind these rules or concepts. Leads to a feeble understanding of accounting & a terrible foundation for an intro course. Gonna be terrible when ppl get into a class where they have to actually understand these concepts in depth

She overcompensates for at home exams with test length/difficulty. The first midterm had an average of 52% -- her solution? upload 700 practice questions. Yes, because when a prof gets a failing average, it's the on STUDENTS to make up for it by spending even MORE time studying, rather than making the test more reasonable. makes sense.

Shes so nice but basically just reads off her slides that have the most basic examples, so she doesnt really 'teach'. Her 'explanations' are really just a regurgitation of quick rules - ie "this note discounted, why? because this chart says if __ then it's a discount" which doesnt explain the actual concept and makes it hard to apply to to test Qs

I just signed up an account on this web to warn all the students who intend to take her class for online classes. she is by far the most horrible teacher I have ever met. She is so unprofessional and her lecture is so clear on the basic problem and super obscure on the main problem(which are tested). Do not take her class if you can!!

She still has a curve during the pandemic even though the average on the test is a 90%

Took Grover for both 136A and 137A and she is a fantastic professor. She provides loads of real world examples and goes through the slides very well. If youre behind, going to her office hours helped out loads. Her tests are reasonable and she cares about everyones career beyond UCSB. Favorite professor at UCSB so far and learnt loads.
