Funny asf. Either u hate or love him. midterm ez final basically impossible tho 😹😹, thought I got less than 50% but idk. u learn a lot but if u miss lecture ur actually cooked. TA basically ran the class cuz he didn't fw technology, only thing he graded i think was final. He does make jokes for asking questions but ask anyway. hard concept

Probably the worst professor I've ever had. Terrible lecturer, TAs had to carry hard. The Homework and the midterm were pretty simple. But the final which was 60% of the grade was terribly hard and nothing like what we did in the class before. Didn't even give the paper back, we just got the final grade with no explanation

I don't think I've ever given a professor a 1-star review before, I'm generally nice on these ratings. Hua Lee was a horrible professor making a difficult set of topics much worse. The class was extremely inconsistent with easy homework and midterm, and the hardest final I've ever taken in college. Avoid at all costs.

Academically the final was nothing like the midterm or homework, the questions were worded very weirdly and was graded very harshly as well. Besides that he had good math tricks when he wasn't on some weird rant taking up half the lecture. Was very rude if asked any questions and then became surprised when everyone became too scared to ask.

This class was organized horribly making it hard to learn anything. Lectures included unclear explanations and the professor wasn't helpful with answering questions. Homeworks were fine, midterm was relatively easy, however the final worth 60% was EXTREMELY difficult. I regret not dropping this class in week 1 when he said the average was a 2.5..

Was a decent lecturer, but sometimes sounded uninterested in answering peoples questions. Midterm was super fair and resembled homework / class examples. Final was the opposite, many of the questions were formulated in weird ways that we hadn't practiced or seen before and did not resemble homework. Final was weighted 60% too which absolutely sucks

i took the final and was so sad because none of the homework was anything like the final. if you can still drop, drop and take another quarter. just do it. if you can't, GO TO LECTURE. he doesn't post everything to canvas and you need the lecture notes to pass. he does care about his students a lot and tries to help, but he will still give u a C.

STAY AWAY. 65% final (why...), 25% midterm, 10% hw. grades are bell curved around B-. Ok lecturer. Easy midterm, but mistakes punished heavily (little to no partial credit). Homework is doable. Final is just straight up unfair. The TAs tried to help, but no amount of homework or TA help could prepare you for even 1/4 of the final (65%)..

You tend to learn a lot throughout this class. But, when you're face to face with that final exam, everything you thought you'd know goes away. In other words, his final was ridiculous. Didn't correlate with the homework at all. Rather, you were expected to use the properties you learned and be clever. That's no good way to apply what you practiced

I had him as TA for EE130ABC. He was more helpful than the professor. Great guy, always went out of the way to help you. Knew lots of math tricks. His english was a bit rough .

Class is pretty easy until around week 7. Don't bother asking any questions in lecture, he just avoids them and goes on with his own lecture.

Don't ask questions in class, he won't answer them. He will give you a vague answer and make you feel like a moron. Don't wear a hat in class, he will make you take it off because it shows lesser intelligence. He's funny yet very condescending. Go to lecture because he does show some helpful math tricks. Easy HWs, difficult tests.

This needs to be said. He is a terrible teacher. I can't believe how people here fail to mention how he openly insults students with questions. He can't answer them either; he either gives a useless "joke" or gets frustrated (in person). Rude and condescending. READ THE BOOK; EVIL EXAMS use a calculator for complex #s, it's absolutely essential.

If you have no background in ECE, be prepared for a tough time. The material itself is actually quite easy, but Hua tells you not to read the book. Bad idea, the book's chapter 1 and 2 were pretty bad, but from three onward were really clear. Hua's explanations are hard impossible to follow if you don't know the material, potentially disastrous.

If you have little to no knowledge of electricity you are in for a very rough quarter. He only goes over topics once and does not know how to answer questions.

Great professor, really funny, makes things interesting. Lecture and homework went well together. Going to class is vital for a good grade. Midterms were much easier than the final. Lab was not too difficult but it depends on the TA. Homework can be hard but if you understand it, the tests will be easy...it's also mostly taught in lecture.

Interesting human being and funny a way, but his mood can change from good to bad really fast. Unpredictable in many ways. You can do well on all exams and still get a bad grade (this could be a painful part for any student).

Professor Lee may not be the most helpful professor in the world, but his lectures were very interesting. He has a good sense of humor and presents difficult topics more clearly than the book; however, his tests are pretty difficult.

My favorite professor I've had at UCSB. He's not the most helpful, but he's super into EE. He also has a funny sense of humour.

This class ended up being easier than I expected. Prof. Lee makes the class very interesting, but he can come off very sarcastic and unhelpful. The key is to go to every class and to read the book. His tests were really hard, but he gives a lot of partial credit. Overall i really enjoyed it and would definitley take another one of his classes.

Not the easiest class ever but as a professor he's very clear and gives you a wide range of explanations for every topic. Keeps class interesting with lots of jokes and anecdotes and keeps you wanting to come back to learn more. Just don't expect much of a reply if you email him or ask a direct question, he's much better at just talking on his own.
