Very lecture heavy coursework, but if you watch the ,lectures and take notes you will do fine. He will go through the examples on the notes and highlight what's most important.

The professor only lectured, and i took this class for PSTAT 109 and maybe thats where i messed up because this was his first time teaching this class. He read heavily from the slides, and reading the slides by myself was more effective and less time consuming. You will learn from youtube Videos and CLAS more than from him.

Taken this course in the pandemic period. The best stat prof I've ever met

He is so great! Definitely take him for any class you can. He is really understanding and helpful. His equations are sometimes more complicated than the book so I would recommend getting them from there but other than that, he is very clear and does not make anything unnecessarily hard.

I love Prof. Bapat (I've had him for multiple PSTAT classes) for many reasons. My only frustration with him is that his grading on exams is a bit unfair. Small calculational mistakes will cost you as much as conceptual ones. Also: he lets you make equation sheets. DO NOT copy your equations from his notes. LOTS of typos compared to other profs.

The material was difficult and the exams were on the harder side BUT if you're going to take 120B I would def recommend Bapat, he repeats concepts over and over to really hammer them into your brain and works problems out on the board in ways that feel simplified and practical. Had a midterm, final and 2 quizzes (scheduled, not pop-quizzes).

Took his 120B course and had a great experience. His teaching style made the daunting material very manageable. I especially appreciated his straightforward instructions on how to solve examples. Rarely tries to trick you. Quizzes were very hard but midterm and final were very fair.

Made the class super easy. Definitely take him for any class you can. I did not have time to try in the class and still ended up with an A-. Highly recommend

I walked into that class trying to get a major requirement over with, and I'm now considering a minor in statistics because of him. He's a very motivating professor. Make sure to take good notes in his class, since his steps are much more clear than the textbook. Also, investing heavily in a good formula sheet makes the final trivial.

Professor Bapat is definitely the best professor in the PSTAT department! His lectures are well organized and very clear. It's very easy to follow along in class. Reasonable amount of homework (6 HW for one quarter). I would definitely take him again.

When I was taking his class I thought he wasn't a great professor because he didn't give me a very good conceptual understanding, but what IS great about him is he gives explicit steps for every type of problem and has clear expectations. I would definitely recommend him compared to other professors. Also not a lot of homework and he's funny :)

The class was definitely suppose to be really hard but he made it so simple. He writes out all the steps for how to do every problem. He can go fast at times and assume that you know things but he is an easy grader and is super laid back. Definitely try to take any and every class you can with him. Partial curve at the end of the class

The grade consists of homework, two quizzes, a midterm, and a final. Everything that you need to know is covered during lecture, during which the professor explains the definitions clearly and goes over many example problems and their solutions (textbook not needed but recommended for practice). Light homework load; quizzes and exams are very fair.

Awful professor. Doesn't explain any of the concepts covered in class, just writes formulas and then skips steps in examples. Half of his lectures are incoherent. Will keep introducing new problems and concepts, asking the class to "guess" the answer, and then after 2 minutes of silence writes the final answer without any explanation and moves on.

Literally the best stats professor at this school. He is SO nice, thoroughly explains the material and gives you an entirely fair amount of work. Definitely try to take your pstat classes with him!

I liked how he never used slides and worked everything out on the board. I wouldn't skip lectures because he goes through the material using examples. Not a lot of hw but hw was directly from textbook. His exams are straight forward, he only tested us on topics that we went over in class so no trick questions. Highly recommend taking 120B with him
