Each test, he throws a curveball at you. The textbook is to give you some insight of what's going on, but he makes the tests twice or three times as hard.
a relatively difficult teacher... reasonable but difficult. exams are tough (AVG was a 50% on MT1) but curved. he's obviously smart and will work with the students but the huge lecture hall kind of sucks.
First of all, his tests are ridiculously difficult. I thought every single problem on the test was extremely difficult. I advice take CLAS at all costs! Plus, the textbook is horrible
Despite what everyone says about him going to fast in lecture, I never had problems. He is very intelligent, and genuinely helpful if you ask him. His tests are very difficult, but if you study hard and really understand why the math works, then the connections he asks you to make are reasonable. Challenging but great professor.
Moves fast, but can you really blame him?, he has a certain amount of material to cover in a short time. Pretty boring lectures, found myself reading the book mostly. Midterms and finals have questions that really make you think, and are usually questions which he has not taught the exact method to solve, so critical thinking is a must.
Moves very fast for most people in the class. If you only rely on the lectures to learn you will fail. TAKE C.L.A.S. or get a study group to help you understand the material. But is very knowledgeable in the material. The tests are very difficult and most of what he teaches is not on the tests. Uses a bell curve with the average around 60 percent
HARD teacher. He moves VERY fast in class, so by the time you figure something out on the board, you get lost because hes already 4 problems ahead. His exams are MURDER, he makes them so EVERYONE fails to see how much everyone really knows. Having said that, he is VERY intelligent and passionate when it comes to math. Really challenges you to learn
Hard to follow during lectures.
This is probably the worst teacher I have ever had. He taught the class to his enjoyment, and his enjoyment is more like calculus no one has ever seen. On top of that he confused the class so badly he had to reexplain something 3 times. When the class didnt get it, he just got upset. oh and to top it off, the text book was terrible.
His lectures are confusing much of the time. A lot of what he teaches doesn't even end up on the exams. You must read the book to really understand what is going on. He is helpful with questions though.
Overall it was a good class. He moved a little too fast in lectures at times, but kept things interesting. Read the text book and you will be able to better understand the lectures. Test are hard, but curve is gentle...Read the Textbook!
Lectures were confusing at times and difficult to follow. He will teach you material that won't appear on the test, but it is possible to use what he teaches you to do well on the test. Insists on a lot of theory.
Hard professor. His lectures are kinda unorganized. He doesn't tell you what he's gonna talk about, he just goes. On numerous occasions I had to ask my CLAS tutor what the hell happened in lecture. I ended up only going to CLAS because lecture was too convoluted. Jacob's a good guy and knows his stuff, but I had a hard time with his class.
A good professor for upper division math. But way too hard for lower division.
This guy expected 2 papers (about 5 pages each) from a ONE unit class. Sure the class was 'honors,' but you've got to be joking professor Jacob. McCammond didn't require any papers for this class - just attendance! Also, he annoyed me in a general sense.
Value him greatly! You don't get many clear and passionate professors in the Math department. Jacob is one of them.

He came to teach Math 5AI (the honor version of 5A) to subsitute for Dr. Jon McCammond for a week during Winter 2005. Although he only taught the class for a week, he's impressive. He encouraged discussion, has high demand on students, and paid a lot of effort training students to write good proofs.
Very energetic. Tests are really fun if you are into that kind of thing
Great professor. An untradional classroom. Midterms & final r hard. But he curved alot. At the beginning of 102A. there was a lot of confusion, but by midterm, everything is clear up.
Great guy, interesting problems

His classes are always very interactive. You have to participate to do well, but it keeps it fun. He's got a lot of energy and he's always willing to help.
This class is a lot of fun. You have to right a couple papers. Be sure to be very descriptive and clear in your writing.
