relates well to students, although unorganized. lost three assignments of mine including final exam and midterm. hard to contact. no comments, feedback on any assignment whatsoever. 100% in class until final paper graded, and no feedback on that either--suspect.
Prof. Galicia is an excellent lecturer. He helps students understand the core issues impacting the education and the disparaties affecting students that get racialized treatment. Great articles, books, and video clips - relevant to historical process and current events. I have a better grasp of specific sociological issues in education now. TY MG
Yooo I thought he was the homie but based on the grade I got he isn't. Overall nice professor I guess.
Cool dude, I learned a lot in his class! You dont have a final, the class consists of only 3 pop quizzes and then an essay. Theres random attendance sheets that get passed during lecture, and you wont know when you get quizzed but hes an easy grader and has extra credit opportunities.
Mario is an okay instructor. His lectures are completely unorganized and dry. Mario is highly unaccessible outside of class. He assigns a lot of written work, but takes forever to get your grades back. Mario offers little to no additional insight into the material than the readings already provide. I'd suggest taking someone else.
Galicia is an amazing professor! He's great at educating you on racial issues and is rather patient with students who aren't as open minded. He's super hilarious and down to earth too; he made three hour lectures pass by quickly. He's big on discussions and the assigned readings are so enriching. Easily my favorite class of the quarter.
Class has barely started, third week in and Galicia is unorganised. He did not show up to the first, played a film. He is SO UNACCESSIBLE outside of class/office hours. He is a nice professor but is unorganised and does not feel obliged to keep on top, which leaves you confused as a student, trying to pass. Taken him twice, don't know why.
It was a bit drawn out, but it was an interesting class. Just focus and read and you should be fine.
Mario Galicia is a likeable professor and a nice guy. However, his lectures are not organised at all. Dry, boring and nobody speaks. Instead, he talks at you and only discusses the readings. Doesn't give any other info outside of books. Could skip and get an A. Says he grades participation, I never spoke he gave everyone 100% Papers - easy.
He's just not a good professor. He rambles during lecture about things not relevant to the reading, and they're mostly disorganized to begin with. Luckily, the assignments aren't difficult, but the way lecture is administered is poor. The structure of the class makes it very difficult to debate with people that agree with the professor.
He gives students the opportunity to speak if they disagree with him but no one seemed to raise their hand to talk so seeing these reviews are confusing but overall he needs to improve in presenting his material but easy A if you turn in the work.
Great Professor! He integrates his personal experiences with the material at hand which makes the class experience better because it allows us to incorporate our own experiences as well. He is very approachable in and out of class; it's also evident that he truly cares about his students and the material he is teaching!
Rambles too much about random stuff that adds no value to the class. The class attracts a handful of very narrow-minded individuals and makes it hard for anyone to have a dissenting opinion. Hardly anyone spoke during lecture. If they did, it felt painfully forced and just regurgitation of what the professor just said.
He needs to provide more visuals instead of just watching him talk for 2 hours straight. He spoke mostly about his experience being latino and having a Graduate degree which he recently obtained which is awesome but he brought it up and went on tangents about it every lecture. His essays are very straightforward and quite easy.
Galicia was an awesome Professor that opened my mind with current events that communities are facing currently. There were about 5 blogs and 2 exam essays. I have testing anxiety, so I was extremely grateful to apply my knowledge towards a paper. His classes are group discussions, & he is always open to student's input & ideas. Great guy, take it!
Best professor I've ever had. The readings he chooses make you excited to read for class and you can tell how passionate he is about the topics talked about in class. He is always available to talk things that may be unclear out, and is the most supportive man I have come across. He really cares about teaching and his students. BEST GUY!
