Make sure you truly understand all concepts that are taught in class. The midterm and final are nothing like the practice problems that are given. Quizzes were easy and based off the homework.

Quizzes were easy and were just modified hw questions (usually just changing the numbers) so make sure you do the homework. Lecture isn't mandatory, you can learn everything online, but she doesn't post notes on gauchospace. The final replaces your midterm if the score is higher, so study for that with the final review sheet (50ish problems)

Best professor I have ever had in the PSTAT department. I would definitely take a course with her again! As long as you put in the work in this class you shouldn't be lost, because she is great at explaining concepts in lecture. The final basically determines your grade so make sure you study hard for it. Quizzes are all based on the homework.

She is one of the best teachers I had in the department. Her notes are very clear, and provides a good mixture of proofs BUT ACTUALLY HAS EXAMPLES TO SHOW so you actually understand the material. She is also very considerate of student feedbacks if are struggling! Homeworks are not easy, but if you put in the effort it is definitely doable.

Absolutely love professor Hohn. She's super passionate about teaching and is able to convey her ideas clean and clear. Best blackboard handwriting. Really cares for her students. Homework is not bad at all as long as you follow her lectures. Highly recommend!!

I am coming back to write this after I have graduated. If I were to vote for ONE favorite professor, Hohn would have my vote any day. It's understandable if you don't do well in her classes, but if you learn nothing, then you need to think about your learning style. Do ALL your homework, and go to her office hours, they were extremely useful.

Great professor. Only annoying thing is that she'll stop the class if anyone is talking, even whispering. I'm here to learn and I could care less. I wouldn't skip lectures because she is VERY thorough with the material.

Professor Hohn is clear in her lectures, energetic and capable of explaining the same concept 20 different ways. She makes sure that the class is able to follow the concepts with her and provides example questions as well. Outside of lecture she is approachable and willing to help students with whatever she can. Best teacher I've taken at UCSB!

I had her for PSTAT 120A - lecture, homework, quizzes, and office hours are very clear and straight forward. She explains confusing concepts in ways that make sense. Highly recommend!!!

Professor Hohn was one of the best professors I've had so far at UCSB. Her lectures were very clear, and she used funny examples to make the material more interesting. Weekly quizzes in section for part of your grade, except they were just the homework (not graded) she gave you, except the numbers were changed. Highly recommend her

The first stats or math prof I've had at UCSB that doesnt have an accent. And on top of that knows how to explain material well. Lots of word problems, not many proofs. Lets you take cheat sheets to exams. Hallelujah. Homework isn't mandatory but exams and quizzes are pretty much based completely on hw so I'd recommend doing it. Would take again

Here's what I have to say about Hohn: I passed my stats class at CC wonderfully while most hated my pro. Hohn is a diff story. Ever read through a word problem and maybe have to read it twice? Well Hohn uses harry porter refernces and nonsensical words or creatures for her problems. Makes you have to read and re read and so on. NOT a fan

Hohn was an excellent professor. Her lectures were polished, and she did an incredible job of presenting the material. She explained concepts clearly and intuitively. The homework she assigned was helpful and straightforward, and her exams accurately tested for understanding. Hohn is among the best professors I've ever had.
