Get ready to learn by the textbook and YouTube videos, Herrera's teaching style is awful and scattered. He repeats examples in the textbook in his lectures, only to make them more confusing. His tests are difficult as he asks questions that he did not go over on in lecture. Good luck.
Look. He doesn't make any sense. His lectures are scattered. He actually gets progressively worse every time I see him and I had to take two classes of his. Every word out of his mouth is nonsense. Avoid him as much as you can because lord knows if you take any of his classes it's going to be a struggle. If you have no other choice, I'll pray for u
Herrera makes the material much more confusing than it should be with his slides & lectures. Although he is an enthusiastic & sweet guy, his teaching seems scattered & distracted. I had to work a lot outside of class to piece all of the information together in a meaningful way, & found going to class almost useless. I wish he would use textbooks!
Just do everything you possibly can to avoid his class...
He is a very funny and nice guy but cannot teach. I learned everything I needed to know by reading the book. Whenever someone asked him a question he would get confused and have trouble answering. He also curves the class by ranking so you have to do well on your tests. Material overall is not that hard.
The class is based off 2 MT and 1 Final. Lectures don't explain much and are basically reiterations of the text. I would not recommend this teacher. I didn't learn anything and spent countless hours studying/teaching myself only to still not pass the class.
Doable class, but you definitely difficult. Only graded off of 3 tests, & is vague on the material that is going to be on them. Provides a "fair game" sheet, and use the power points online rather than the book to review. (reading is still crucial for understanding) I found our TA (Layher) to be more useful via office hours and study sessions
Herrera is very smart and knowledgeable, and he is also very clear about how to succeed in the class. If you want to ace the midterm and the final, read, and then reread the chapters, and make sure you can not only define, but explain and connect all of the terms. The students who did not do well simply did not read. Grade based on 2 MT's, 1 final.
He is very nice, but his lectures are horrible. He literally just presents the textbook exactly as it is without any further explanation. He explains things bad and words his questions on the midterm (2) and final badly. Take with another professor.
He has great personality, but as a professor, he is horrible.
This class started out easy, but got more intense at the end. I suggest to read the book for clarification. He has 2 midterms, 1 final! The final was 130 questions long! Overall, you really have to study for this class! Use the experiments he discusses (they're on the book too) to help you with remembering topics and ideas.
I think this class would have been an easier A with another professor, but it wasn't so bad. However I don't think his lectures add to your understanding so if I would take it with a different professor. Just read the book . He repeats midterm q's on the final, but always has a question about a random study in the book that he never discussed.
Exams were hard and I did not get anything from lectures-all of my learning was done in the book after class
The professor is very nice, but the class is only based on midterms and final. He posts all his lecture slides online. As long as you do the readings, and follow the lecture slides it shouldn't be that hard.
eh... 2 midterms and 1 final. Rely on the TA. My grade.. oh god
This professor is very kind, but he is absolutely horrible. The midterms are not clear and he is beyond unorganized. I have not had to study this hard for anything aside from calculus 2. AVOID TAKING A CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR
Doesn't clarify material well in class. Average midterms. Unprepared. Not very well organized.
super hard miterms would not recommend.
