DON'T SPEND $100 ON THE TEXTBOOK- you don't even need it. need to go to class for fill in the blank notes and section is mandatory, too. easy as long as you review semi often. 2 midterms (infinite mind maps u can use!) and the final was an online blog done at home. several assignments and 2 books, but doable. lots of work for GE but I recommend!
It's clear that she is passionate about the subject but her lectures were slow, hard to follow, and boring. The subject itself seems like it should be interesting, but the assignments/readings are not that engaging.
Super easy GE! She is very organized and everything is weighted fairly. I did not read the textbook and got an A. Moret makes a lot of cute jokes and she's very inspirational to listen to. She's always open to asking questions and gives a variety of assignments, like debates, book quizzes, papers, and field trips. She lets you bring notes to tests.
She is passionate about the subject which is great but she often goes way off topic and spends unnecessary amounts of time on unrelated tangents. She often skips through slides fast yet rarely finished the powerpoint. Out of class quizzes are very easy though. Would not recommend if you are not interested in the subject because it is very boring.
Just by attending lecture, I could tell that Moret is very passionate about environmental studies. Essays, quizzes, and other assignments are short, pretty straightforward and easy. Don't buy the textbook!!
This class is very interesting, and you can really tell she loves the subject she is teaching. Always go to lecture, because the notes are extremely important, and also because she's great. If you go to lecture and section and do all your work, it's easy. She lets you have as many mind maps as you want or one double sided cheat sheet. Pretty easy.
Moret is honestly the sweetest Prof. that I have ever had and she has a genuine love for her work and it shows! You are allowed to bring a cheat sheet to the midterms which can net you an easy A. Be prepared to go out of your way to attend the 2 mandatory class field trips. They really are not a hassle, but it is something to keep in mind.
Nice Person, and she is very patient with your questions. The grading criteria is always clear. The only problem is that you are supposed to read two books which are boring and unrelated with the topic of the course.
There were a few shorter writing assignments that were graded generously. You can also bring a cheat sheet for the midterm and final. She's a nice lady and she makes the lectures worth going to.
She has a monotone voice so it is hard to pay attention at times. If half of the class shows up she posts the lecture online (there is a possibility of them not being posted which happened 3 times). Cheat sheets are allowed for tests. Two quizzes for section required going around the library and touch tank. Short assignments required for section.
Moret is passionate and a pretty easy class. There are a couple assignments apart from the midterm and final as well as a mandatory trip to the REEF and a lagoon tour. She posts slides online as long as over half the class attends lecture. She lets you use mind map notes on the midterm and final. You also need to read two books for this class.
Professor Moret is very clear in explaining what she wants and how she wants it. The course itself was not difficult, and even if you don't go to lecture you should be fine if you read the book/slides. Sometimes her lectures could be a little boring, as she basically read the slides.
One of the nicest professors at UCSB. Lots of information covered so it's best to keep up; definitely read Story of Stuff. Highly recommend this class!
The lectures were taken pretty much word for word from the book and she went pretty fast over the information. Grading really depends on what TA you have. Definitely read the story of stuff and get as many of the easy points as possible because the tests are pretty difficult.
She's a pretty elementary professor. Its definitely an easy pass. I lost interest, Definitely recommend reading the story of stuff because its half of the final. Make mind maps as you go so that way you don't have to do it all last minute
Participation, writing projects, online quizzes, 1 midterm, final. She posts the slides online and basically reads off of them so I stopped going to class. Go to class on the 2 days that she shows a movie. The 1st half of the class is basically ES 1. Writing projects are easy but a bit tedious. Final was a lot harder. Easy class overall.
-Lectures posted online -Fairly easy class -Do the work, do NOT fall behind -Read Story of Stuff - it's half the final -Lots of assignments and chances to boost grade, but don't slack on any of them -Very enlightening, life-changing class -Material is interesting
Great lecturer! She is very kind and accessible in many ways outside of class. There is a lot of info to go over every lecture, so she puts the slides up online beforehand. I recommend having these up on your laptop during class if you like typed notes. Textbook can be pricey, but you can borrow it from the library! Read Story of Stuff for final!
Great professor. All her lectures are online. However, there is Iclicker participation in her class which makes it mandatory to come. She let us use notes for the midterm and final. Section is mandatory because there are mandatory easy assignments you need to do which really helps bump up your grade. Don't buy the book, I never used it.
