he's alright. i felt like he explained certain concepts way more harder than he needed to. he assigns hwk every week, and quizzes in disc were hard. only good thing was that the sample exams were exactly like the real test. just pay attention, go to disc and do a bunch of practice problems. there's not much else to say about seto

I notice that many feedbacks are from students of his Math3B class, while I took his 2A. Although 2A for most students are not that hard, which means getting a good grade may not be related to Seto, I believe he's a good teacher. He didn't provide sufficient materials outside class, but his lecture and note are very solid. Not a bad choice.

Great professor. Very good at explaining topics and does not use powerpoint! Exams are just like the practice ones which leads to high averages (above 85%) so don't bank on a curve. Really nice guy and always willing to help.

Fair class. The pace is somewhat slow. Seto gives practice problems before midterm and final. And I guess he has the longest on-campus hour, so dedicated.

Seto's class is fairly easy. Midterm and final are crucial to getting a good grade in the class. If you put in the work (CLAS, TA Sections, do practice test problems), you'll get the grade you want. I started off hating calculus, but he made sure to thoroughly teach material that would be on the exams. Would recommend over most.

Class is fairly easy, with comprehensive practice material that's easier than the actual tests. Homework is annoying though, Symbolab is what most of us used. He's a funny guy and understandable, and definitely a great choice in the math dept. The final was pretty chill as long as you studied (it was noncumulative!)

He knew what he was talking about, but would explain things in a very weird way. Would also sometimes go off on tangents not-relating to the current problem he would be working on on the board. Hw was sometimes annoyingly tedious, but the midterm and final were not bad as long as you go to section and study the review guides

Understood teaching material but he had a hard time explaining it to students. Was a really nice guy and tried to make lectures interesting. Go to lectures, sections and do your homework and you should be fine. Make sure to study for exams. I would have been lost if I hadn't taken Calculus in high school.

Seto is a very good lecturer. Gives you a cheat sheet to use on the midterm and the final which was really helpful. Do the homework and you should be fine.

Seto gave very little homework. He didn't do an awesome job of explaining things during lecture, but that's why section was so helpful and crucial to learning the material. The homework was always WAY harder than tests. One midterm, One final, he gave a study guide for both and went over study guide in class. Not bad overall.

I liked him! I was worried because was this was my first calc class, but I did just fine. His teaching style might not be for everyone, but for me he was very straightforward. Doesn't move too fast at all. Not a lot of homework, which is good, but also forces you to study independently (sign up for CLAS). I'd take him again!

This class will be hard if you did poorly in previous math courses or do not have a solid background of trig and algebra (which you should). Otherwise, If you attend lecture and section you will be fine. The homework is more difficult than what is tested but it is fair since it counts for such a great percentage of your grade (guaranteed points)

Wouldn't recommend. Seto often starts problems and does not finish them, does not explain problems well, very confusing. I learned far more this quart in math drop in tutoring than from lecture. Lectures were just pointless, it was 8am and even Seto was exhausted. Not stimulating, not a fun class.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I could go on about how terrible of a professor he was, but there really is no point. Without CLAS you will not pass this class. And that's only if you have as great of a tutor as I did. Trust me. The only positive thing I can say is that if you put in the effort, he will work with you in terms of grading.

Sometimes shy and a little awkward, but decent teacher overall. He has a kind of dry sense of humor. The textbook didnt help much. If you need clarification on stuff in the class dont bother asking during class, just go to the TA or math lab.

This guy was solid, especially considering the math department at UCSB. The WebWork was crazy annoying for this class as they were WAY more difficult than his examples in class. He does do a lot of review, really is great at explaining slow and steady and super relatable. You'll do fine if you get him.

He always seems a little confused. This class is dumb

MATH6A . 8 Years Ago

Not sure why other people think he was hard for 6A. His lectures were clear and his English was fluent, unlike all the other Asian math professors I have taken. His midterm was easy and his final was easy (except for that last really hard integral problem). His practice final was much harder than the actual final.

I thought he was a good prof. I really liked that he never used slides and worked everything out on the board. only problem was that he mumbles quite often, so i recommend asking him to go over something again if you didn't catch it, he will do it . oh also he was very fair with grading, could've gotten an A if i did all the HW

Terrible, dont know how he is a professor, harsh grader and laughs at students during difficulty during final. God awful avoid at all costs.

I learned absolutely nothing in this class. Seto stands in front of the class muttering into the board while the rest of the class just sits there in complete confusion. If you haven't taken calculus before be prepared to live in the math lab or CLAS because that is the only place you will learn anything. This guy shouldn't be teaching.

Homework is very hard and a lot. Working in team may help but make sure you can solve every homework problem. Exams are supper hard. Go to the lecture and take notes is very important. Read examples on the text book may help.

He is cool. The only thing that is annoying is that he speaks really low.

A grad student that seemed way in over his head. Makes an already difficult class almost impossible. Terrible lecturer and gives tests that are simply not fair. 1 midterm and final, class average was a C and he only curved up 2%. Is willing to give points back on tests if you go to his OH and go over the test with him. Avoid this guy at all costs.
