Lecture is mostly rants, super easy grader, loved the class overall!

Professor Garrison is honestly one of the best Professors I have ever encountered. She is there for you as a Professor always willing to help and listening to any concerns you have. You have to work in her classes but its not impossible to get a good grade. She gives the option of multiple assignments and you just have to stay on top of it.

Honestly, yes she does give a lot of assignments, but she gives them to you the 1st day & then you get to CHOOSE which ones to do to get full points. Attendance is important, as it SHOULD be-- this is college. If you put in the effort and pay attention, it's easy to get an A. I loved her passion for the subject & I really respect her. GREAT CLASS!!

Garrison was a cool professor: funny, passionate, etc. However, if your life consists of anything besides school, do not take this class. She assumes everyone sits around getting wasted instead of studying, so she assigns a ridiculous amount of work in order to pass. Had to beg my TA to pass me just because it was that hard to even get a C.

I have never worked so hard in a class a gotten such a bad grade. Even if you do all the required assignments and get full credit on nearly all assignments she will not give you an A. If you miss more then one class she will lower your grade a full letter, even if you do all the work and participation requirements. Most BS class I've ever taken.

Prof Garrison is seriously one of the most understanding professors at UCSB. Though she does have a lot of work, she assigns it on the first day and you get to choose what you want to write about. Honestly, she cares and is willing to work with you and talk to you about anything in the course.

Class was easy. You get to choose the assignments you complete, and if you do the essays that are worth more point instead of the smaller assignments then you can get an easy A and not have to do much other work besides those. Readings aren't absolutely required, but do go into class and section with an open mind. Really interesting class. Fun prof

Fairly easy class. Very fun and laid back woman. No midterm or final which was great. Would highly recommend taking this course.

No tests, and homework assignments are pick and choose. Easy A, right? NOPE. You must earn approx. 500 'points' by the end (for an A) which had me doing work for this 4 unit elective ALL THE TIME. Be prepared for a lot of in-depth, time-consuming assignments involving writing WITH textbook citations, attending various events outside of class, etc.

She cares about students and tries to be engaging. HOWEVER SHE SCREWED OVER A LOT OF PEOPLE IN FALL '13. It was her first quarter at UCSB and she was coming from a semester school. She did NOT modify her course to the quarter system, so she assigned WAY too much work. This 4 unit elective had me doing DOUBLE the work of my other 2 classes COMBINED.

Prof. Garrison was an extremely wonderful lecturer; truly the highlight of my fall quarter. She is interesting and fun and always keeps the classroom invigorated and interested. I would highly recommend her; it's a very easy class.
