Absolutely loved this class. Emma was a great lecturer so class was never too boring. I would recommend going to lectures that way you get her notes and definitions down so that when you study for exams it'll be easier. Sections and exams were super easy. She gives you study guides for the exams with all of the questions on there so it's an easy A
She is very nice and actually kinda funny in a goofy kind of way. No textbook for her class and negligible readings assigned. She tried to adjust to the feedback of past times she taught the course, so it was much easier than previous classes she taught. Overall, pretty easy class, studied only night before both midterm and final, got A's on both.
Absolutely love this professor! She not only has a great sense of humor, but also explained everything very clearly.
This class was supposed to be an easy A. Everyone knows nobody is actually interested in this subject except a rare few and for those that don't, they find themselves struggling to study for the midterm or final because there is just too much information to learn that is unnecessary and was not necessary for other professors who taught it.
Emma was a great professor! Her jokes were funny and she kept me entertained during every music lecture. There are many live performances which are very cool, and the tests were fair. Loved this class!
Helpful, accommodating, enthusiastic, funny. Great classical music, lots of information to learn or memorize. Have to learn all compositions by ear, as they may appear on the listening portion of the midterm or final, and you have to identify them from any point in the piece. Not easy, but good teaching style and personality. Not for slackers.
ridiculously hard for a gen ed class. came out at the end of the qtr having no "appreciation" for music at all. time consuming section assignments worth ONE pt. midterm & final was extremely difficult. asked dumb questions such as "who invented the printing press." wtf. ask something about MUSIC, would ya? overall annoying. don't take mus15 w/ her
She is horrible. Her class is unnecessarily hard and she is one of the most annoying human beings. Not an easy A or B. I was forced to take pass/no pass and still had to study a lot for the final. If you are not already well educated in music, then don't take this class!
She's fun.
Do you like corny jokes that literally make you cringe? Wanna write 3, 4 page essays and take mandatory quizzes in section (with no make ups)? Do you want to take an entry-level music course for GE requirements that takes more time and effort than most upper division classes? If you answered yes to the above classes, this course is for you!
This is a great general ed class. The midterm and final are really easy as long as you attend lecture and put in any effort at all. Emma is cool but she does a few really annoying things and she will cuss you out if you use your phone during lecture. Overall I would recommend this class to anyone whether you like music or not!
f you don't understand any concepts, go to office hours! also, attend class. Emma is great and is very willing to help & simplify it to make it clearer for you. an A is definitely attainable; might seem outta reach if you're not into the music, but you have to deal w/ it. STAY ON TOP OF THE LISTENING EXAMPLES & INFO, OR FALL BEHIND. simple as that.
WARNING DO NOT take music 15 with McCullough. She has extremely high expectations for students with no music background. Her teaching skills are terrible and makes the class much more difficult than it needs to be. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
WARNING DO NOT take music 15 with McCullough. She has extremely high expectations for students with no music background. Her teaching style is the typical, boring read off the powerpoint. This class isn't an easy A or even an easy B. I really didnt appreciate music after taking this class and am discouraged from taking any music class in the future.
