HIST2C . 1 Year, 6 Months Ago

He is the greatest teacher I have ever had. His passion and love for this subject are unparalleled even to the greatest of teachers. His monotone is something I have grown to love and I continue to strive to be like him. HE is a great role model.

Mr Akulov is a life changing teacher. Don't listen to people who say his voice is boring, they are liars who are jealous of his supreme history abilities. Walking into his classroom brings a flutter to my heart. Fellow classmate says, "He's the greatest teacher I've ever had." Your life isn't complete until you get a Mr Akulov lesson.

History 4C is great if you didn't take AP Euro in high school. Akulov's lectures were boring at times. my TA was great and section participation was mandatory as well as short weekly forums. However, there's only one paper due at the end of the quarter. Midterm and Final are multiple-choice. some reading but also easy to skim and still get an A!

He's a great lecturer and is very knowledgeable. He covers a lot of information in his lectures so there's definitely a lot of notes to take. There is also a lot of assigned readings along with weekly discussion section posts but the workload overall is manageable. Overall, he's a pretty great prof who cares about students!

Professor Akulov is clearly very well versed on the subject and lectures are relatively easy to follow. There are multiple lectures a week (up to 4) which is on the more lecture heavy side. He also assigns a lot of readings, 2-3 a day which are interesting but not necessarily extremely essential to the understanding of the course and the quizzes.

Professor Akulov was a very knowledgeable lecturer provided students with clear guidelines and expectations for the course. The course was easy as long as you attend lectures and pay attention. The only problem is he assigns a large amount of outside readings that take up a lot of time outside of class.

Took History 2C with him over the summer. He was ok. His accent made it a little difficult to understand. The content was interesting. If you do the readings and actually study you can pass with an A. He posts the slides on gauchospace but you should still go to lecture

Not the most compelling speaker, but fantastic class. Western Civ ignores petty details and focuses on ideas like the evolution of the concept of freedom. He doesn't preach, but this class changed how I think about the world. Paper topics were interesting and made me grow as a scholar.

Generally nice guy. Knew what he was talking about. Covered the textbook readings in lecture so all you had to read were the primary sources. Would take another one of his courses.

Lectures are very boring and Professor Akulov is a boring person. His voice is very hypnotizing. Couldn't keep awake most of the time. I hate history and this is seriously the worst class ever.

Fairly easy class and it's good to take early because it opens a lot of upper div history classes that you can take without being a junior. Akulov is a cool guy and he lectures with slides that are easy to copy down. The only qualm I had with him was his final/midterm essay questions were kinda hard, but if you read the material you could BS them.

The class was okay. Lectures are boring; it is hard to stay awake at 8am. Sections are mandatory and those are very useful! There were a lot of readings but it useful if you want to pass the class. Overall, the class was an okay class.

Pretty straight forward class. lectures can be boring partly in due to his accent which is entertaining at first but then begins to drone on. Took the first mid term having only read the primary sources and attended lectures regularly. I had to break out the big narrative textbook for the final, its very helpful. Not great, not bad.

A lot of reading for a lower division. Tests and Papers are clearly outlined. Boring lectures but are worth going to for the notes. Prepare to work for the A. Midterm paper= 3-4 pages. Final paper incorporates the midterm paper (6-8 pages)

Great professor. His lectures are clear and informative with good PowerPoints to take notes from. He's clearly knowledgeable about European history and he always stays on topic. He's also extremely helpful if you visit during office hours. The TA sections are mandatory, but worth your time. Overall, I definitely recommend.

Akulov is friendly and is available for help with any questions. I found sections more helpful as we went over document discussions which are needed most for midterm, paper, and final. Bring snacks or drink coffee before hand because lectures can be really dull and hard to stay awake during 8 am lectures

Good lectures - just a bit boring at times. Very knowledgable in this subject (European History) and stays on-topic all throughout lectures. Occasionally visits sections, which is impressive considering how busy he must be. Overall good class, just be prepared to read (a lot) and attend every lecture!

He is a sold professor. You can tell his is very knowledgeable about the subject. Lectures can get dry at times, but that was probably because lectures were at 8am. TA's do all of the grading so make sure to get to know them and be nice to them. All in all, a good class to take.

He is definitely knowledgeable about the material and his lecture slides are simple and easily to follow. But there is A LOT of reading for this class, and after a while, his lectures can get boring. The TA's grade the papers, midterms, and finals, so I'm not sure how hard he grades...because he doesn't actually grade anything.
