His lectures are super low and quiet.
Karimis the man! Super helpful at office hours, clear during lectures, and doesn't try to trick you on his tests. Definitely a recommended math professor at UCSB.
Professor Karimi is an excellent professor and possibly the most helpful at UCSB. He really wants his students to understand the material and typically provides many examples to help make everything clear. The midterm was based off of homework and lecture notes. Overall, Karimi is a great professor.
I love going to his lecture because for the first time i can follow along with what he is teaching. Focus alot on the computational process and less on theory. He is extremely understanding and very willing to help student. Midterm was fair and stright forward. Just study hw, LECTURE NOTES, and practice problem and you will be fine.
He is a great professor. This has been the first math professor at UCSB that I have actually been able to learn from. He gives a lot of examples, which is helpful since most professors just show you once with theory and expect you to know it.
Very helpful professor. Must go to lecture to understand material because his methods for solving problems are very different from the book. Just copy what he writes down and you should be fine.
Very friendly and helpful, he makes it worth waking up at 7:30 for class! Take his class if you have the option!
I was a bit skeptical when he started with Linear Algebra instead of Differential Equations, but it's easy to adjust. Lectures are straight to the point, but when working out examples, he does a lot of the computation in his head which leads to some mistakes. Takes some getting used to, but easy to follow once you catch on.
Class is mostly computational. sometimes mashes a couple of steps together but does explain what he does. however sometimes a little too confusing. homework is long but number of problems are fair.
Good teacher, but too hard
He's very understanding. He isn't like other professors in that he responds to emails rather quickly
Classes can be hard to sit through for an 75mins but that could just have to do with the material. It seems difficult/overwhelming at first but I ended up getting a perfect score on the midterm. Study &do the hw& you should be fine. None of the math professors I've had here have been that great but Karimi is a good prof, just a bit boring at times
After a quarter of math with the tragically bad Paul Atzberger, Karimi is like a breath of fresh air. His explanations are very clear. There is a good amount of homework and it covers the material nicely. I would recommend this professor for anyone taking a 3 or 5 series math class.
he's a fun teacher and also a kind person. take him!
Professor Karimi has been the best math Professor I have had here at UCSB. He is an extremely nice person, explains all the topics very well, and he goes out of his way to help you in office hours. Test are really straight forward. His homework, and practice problems, resemble the midterm exactly. Just study and you will be GOLDEN!
Nice guy. seems to legitimately care about students well being. However, only covers computational methods and no theory. (only the how and no why)
Karimi is an amazing math professor, probably the best one I have had yet. His lectures are interesting and I actually understand what he is lecturing about. The midterm we had was not trying to trick us and was fairly straight forward if you studied. I recommend taking him. Plus the homework alone is 24% of the grade.
Karimi is a pretty alright guy. He covered 5A mostly from a linear algebra perspective (which I think is the best way to go about things), but I wish less focus was placed on learning all the different methods he teaches.
Clear explanations, moves quickly, plenty of examples to practice for the tests. Never references the book. A little dull for 8AM but overall, good professor.
Lectures very dry with emphasis on processes. Seems like a nice guy, but is very demanding and asks for proofs on exams and nongraded homeworks. Answers not posted for some questions, so CLAS/Math Lab/office hours needed for help on those. Also, CLAS/Math Lab are probably a good idea for clearer conceptual understanding.
