There is no requirements for this class other than finishing the weekly HW and taking the final. However, if you want to succeed you need to put in time because the content is difficult. I liked her and thought she was a solid teacher, but the final was more difficult than she led us to believe it would be.

Teresa is amazing. She is one of the most intelligent humans I have ever met. Her understanding of logic is incredible; you will be in awe listening to her lectures and watching her work through problems. Logic can be complex, so it is important to attend class. She was always willing to help during office hours. Her classes are amazing!

Stay up to date with the material - class moves fast. Very accessible Prof and TA ... but be ready to put in the time. Teresa knows her stuff! You will be a logician by the end of the course.

Just to clarify that Prof. Robertson did not hold the section during the strike. TA once substitute her lecture when she was on her trip, and in return, she held the one TA section. She loves her graduate students and supports them in demanding their rights.

Great professor and great experience. She is very responsible to teaching. Though her ppt might not be perfect, she is such an accessible and caring professor. She will patiently answer all of the questions you asked after the class. When TAs are striking, she held the sections on her own. Grading policy is reasonable. Easy A if you put efforts.

This professor is really helpful and dedicated to helping the students learn, I thought I didn't get it but I understood after office hours and asking the TA too many questions.

Teresa is lovely and cares a lot about her students. She can be unclear on explaining in lectures (I think that's just bc she knows the material very well and so that's confusing for us who are learning) but the TA is very helpful. The textbook is helpful, and practicing on the HW + doing extra Qs WILL get you a good grade. Def recommend!

Teresa is cares deeply about her students. She wants everyone in her class to succeed and she's also fair. You don't have to do the reading for this class but the material is difficult and so it helps a lot! She also keeps the class on track and she prioritized getting through the material so we could have a week to review for her final.

She really does want her student to get As, and honestly the bad reviews from the past are not reflective of her in my opinion. She is so sweet and caring! The class is definitely challenging, but very rewarding if you try. Put in effort and actually ask questions, you'll do great.

This class combines a lot of difficult concepts. You need a strong grasp on arguments before you can even really begin to do what the class asks of you. She is a great prof, in the sense that she really cares. I just felt intimidated by the course so I slacked but if I wish I didn't. She means well it's just complex and can be repetitive.

All materials for this course are free. One of my favorite Professors so far. Very understanding and great lecturer. Clearly knows the material she is teaching and tries to make it easy to understand, though it is a decently tough class. She wants you to succeed. Course is graded 2/3 homework and 1/3 final, but it is easy to get 100% on each hw.

I mainly studied on my own by reading books. Logic seems to nature to me because I really love this subject. Although Im a self learner, I never miss a lecture simply because her lecture is inspiring. Every assignment is helpful and reasonable. If you are a big fan of logic, just take her class and give it a try.

I felt Teresa was a wonderful professor. She taught the material well and was a great resource for any questions or concerns. She was helpful to any students that may have been struggling and I believe the homework load was more than reasonable. She is really kind and fun as well, I would gladly take another class with her as my instructor.

Professor Robertson is a very genuine person who works hard to ensure that her students are in the best position possible. The material is definitely tough, but she explains it very clearly and is always available to help students with questions about concepts, homework, and exams. One of the most responsive and understanding professors at UCSB.

This class was very difficult for me. Not because of the way she teaches it, just due to the nature of the material. With that being said, I ended up getting a good grade due to the availability of her and the T.A. I took this class during covid, and it's graded off homework, 1 midterm, and 1 final. However if you do bad on HW, she drops it :)

Robertson's lecture isn't that bad if you sit in front and pay attention. She seems to be unconfident and doesn't care if you understand what she's saying which probably because she is not so familiar with the course contents. Don't bring laptop/smartphone that could be a huge distraction in class. The TA this time is quite helpful thou.

Phil 183 is the hardest class I've ever taken. It is almost impossible. 1/3 of your grade is determined by the midterm and the other 2/3 is your final. Teresa could have done a much better job at making sure her students understood the material. Thank God the curve was huge.

Honestly my least favorite class Ive taken at UCSB. Teresa is a really nice person and cares about her students but is just an awful teacher. Not to mention the subject was absolutely boring. I am an A average student double majoring in biopsych and Phil, and I got a B in this class b/c is was so disorganized and boring. Definitely avoid.

Teresa is a really cool person and good teacher. I like her a lot. but this class was the most boring and annoying class ive ever taken. I was really looking forward to taking this advanced metaphysics class but it ended up being my least favorite class ever. She made it all about language. Make sure to check to topic the professor will focus on.

Robertson's lecture often confuses herself. In most of her examples for lectures and homework, she seems to try so hard to use fancy words and fancy concepts to make examples even harder to understand. Really don't know why. TA is super helpful though. This class could be easy and interesting.

Teresa is a wonderful professor, who does not deserve any of the unjust comments many have given on here. She does not bear the full responsibility of educating her students. I strongly suspect that those who were displeased did not put in the requisite effort to not only get a decent grade, but obtain a good level of understanding of the material.

Many of the lectures in this class were incomprehensible. She has very little idea of where the students are at and does not direct her lectures towards a median. Prepare to teach yourself most of this material. She is more interested in proving that she understands the material than using student's questions to teach them.

Absolute worst teacher I have encountered at UCSB. Lectures are extremely disorganized, incapable of explaining concepts coherently, dismissive to students' genuine questions, insecure and defensive. All the things you are not looking for in higher education. You can literally see her failed marriage manifest in her teaching mannerisms. Avoid. Her.
