Kunkel is NOT a good teacher. She is confusing, annoying to listen to, and her exams are completely unfair. For Chem 1C she went WAY off of her notes and never even covered some of the concepts. She is the WORST chem professor I have EVER had. I wish I was not in her class right now.
Dr. Kunkel writes all of her notes with chalk on the board so it's easy to keep up with her in lecture. She thoroughly explains all topics and types of questions. Her tests usually have a question that requires a little outside of the box thinking but no other surprises. Overall I thought she was a great professor!
Kunkel is very clear with her lectures. Explains concepts well and makes clear what will be on midterm and final. First midterm was very difficult but second one is much more doable. Had her for Chem 1A and struggled tremendously. This class is easier and much more interesting.
Dr. Kunkel was a great professor! She does not use powerpoint slides during her lectures, but writes down her notes on the chalk board. Personally, I found this teaching style to be very useful in learning chemistry because she walks you through her notes at a good pace. Her tests are not that hard if you attend lecture and do book problems.
I took Kunkel for Chem1A and ES15. I love Kunkel- I love her dry humor. As clear as she presents the material, I'm an ES major and had a really hard time on her tests even though they were fair. I ended up with a C and am happy to have passed. Kunkel's tests are fair so is the curve, I just suck at chem. I'm glad I'm done w/ the chem requirement
Pretty easy class. Kind of sassy though
BEST CHEM TEACHER! I loved going to lecture, Kunkel was hilarious and her humor was quite unique. Was very skilled at relating chemistry topics to things such as 'ham sandwiches' or 'killer bears'. Definitely helped understand concepts. Teaches well, easy tests if you keep up with the material. Made me switch my major from bio to biochemistry.
She seemed like a good professor until we reached the difficult topics. She just glanced over the hardest sections, while spending multiple days on much easier sections. She gives you 30 minutes for 5 question quizzes and then 50 minutes for 25-30 question midterms.
I took AP Chem in high school and by far learned more in Chem 1A in a quarter than I did there during a year. Bryanna really loves the material and her "experiments" are really funny. Very clear on common mistakes to avoid and what to study for tests. Midterm and Final are difficult, but if you study and go to CLAS you can definitely do well!
Really good professor to take if you know nothing about chemistry. She simplifies everything and gives really funny and simple examples to help you remember stuff. Tells many funny stories in lecture. Best professor to take for intro chemistry classes.
Dr.Kunkel was a great professor! i came intro her class with a weak foundation in chemistry but since she was such great professor i learned very quickly. However her tests are very hard. She as a lot of challenge questions. these questions cover things we never really delt with. Over all she is an amazing professor! TAKE HER !
She was a very great teacher! I wish she taught chem 1B. The tests were very difficult so make sure you study very hard. The class is pretty time consuming so make sure you dedicate yourself to it
Kunkel is a really great professor. She knows what she is talking about and is very helpful. I loved how during every lecture she tried to be humorous.
Very clear and organized teacher. Helpful in getting the student a higher grade. Can be condescending at lectures at times. Homework (ALEKS) is very tedious; tests are rather challenging, but if you are on top of your studies, Chem 1A should be an easy class.
Kunkel has really hard quizzes and exams that are nothing like her practice ones. They are WAY harder and more challenging. class is mandatory and she teaches everything well, however she only teaches you the easy problems and gives challenge problems on test. there is a curve and go to her office hours she is very helpful. hopefully u took ap chem
Kunkel is actually a great teacher. She's very clear on her examples and what she expects but i thought the class was very challenging to say the least. Even after all the practice exams and quizzes I did, the tests where no where near the same. The final was really hard too! I got an F but still got a C in the class. The curve does help in the end
This class was really a torturous class. To be frank, I studied for many hours and still couldn't do well in any of her quizzes, exams, and finals. Although she seems nice and that she seemly tries to help everyone's grade, her tests are ridiculously hard and tricky. Also, her Alex Homework is the worst thing as it kills time and teaches zero.
Will make you feel bad for asking questions. Avoid speaking to her and the class is fine.
Dr. Kunkel is awesome i wish she taught Chem 1B! Shes funny and explains extremely well. Definitely worth requesting her
She's very clear and overall a great professor. She has a great personality and keeps the class fun and focuses on big concepts. Her practice tests are also really helpful. Take Bryanna if you get the chance!
Bryanna Kunkel is outstanding. She is very helpful, very nice, and could be a comedian if she wanted to. Maybe she is. Her explanations are clear as crystal, and she even adjusted our grades because ALEKS kept causing so many problems that quarter. She tells you exactly what will be on the exams, and even makes you study guides in class.
Kunkel is AMAZING!!! By far my favorite out of all of the Chem prof. But she is extraordinarily great at explaining things to students. I looked forward to going to her class, and I actually understood what I was doing in ALEKS, before I needed to do the topics. LOVE HER!! & I love what she said before every test... "Good luck! I believe in you!!!"
She indeed teaches well. (You must attend class since she hand rites everything on the board. no slides available online) Im not sure if its only me who felt this way but she seemed a lil cocky, not easy to approach, didnt want to help students out. Its cuz she didnt really try to listen to me everytime i had a question. hard tests.
She explains things like one doesn't know the material, making it easier to understand and apply
