This is the most boring class, the teacher does not know how to engage the students when he speaks. he talks a lot, you don't know what you should write down, the most boring experience of college so far

great professor, great class, even if you are not interested in chinese art at all, i guarantee this class to be interesting! i always thought the class passed by too fast, cuz it was just so fun. midterms n finals are not easy though, require much memorizations.

The first half of the class is slow- but it picks up and is really interesting. I highly recommend this class, even if you never thought you would be interested in Modern Chinese art.

Very fair professor, and very helpful. Exams are not hard at all, just a LOT of memorization, and paper topic was fun. Would recommend.

Anyone who said this guy wasn't interested in what he was teaching is full of it. The way he describes the artwork that he shows in class demonstrates very well that he is interested, he just doesn't believe in lower div students anymore to have interest. He was knowledgable, intersting, and a nice approachable guy. Try NOT sleeping people.

This class wont be available after this quarter. The professor is very relaxed sounding. He seems indifferent to say the least. The class was relatively easy. I did next to none of the reading and got a n A- on the midterm. Just lots of memorization.

He scheduled his OH (only an hou) during my section FOR THE SAME CLASS! I guess everyone in my section couldn't meet with him. responded to email but never could make an appt to see him. sounded unsociable and irritated through email. TAs are awesome though, and the class itself is that difficult if you put a little time in.

Prof is good, but sometimes forgets that Western students don't understand the Chinese aesthetic. His essays take this into account, though: all formal analysis. Unusual thing: small number of flashcards/test, but lots of stuff on each item.

Monotone voice. Lots of memorization. Makes everyone fall asleep in class.

Great teacher. Knows a lot! Cool guy. I would recommend his classes. Also he used to have this beautiful TA named Jessica!

He's a master of what he teaches. Exams are very tough. You'll need a good memory
