Fun prof and super easy class. If you do the assignments you will get an A. No tests.
Morales is a fun professor that loves what she teaches and makes lectures fun! The course is an easy A if you do the work. There are weekly writing assignments and you have to do two projects to receive an A (graded on completion).
Prof Morales is the absolute best! If you want an A, you have to write 2 papers. It would be a realllllly easy class to take pass/no pass though. She very clearly lays out what you need to do to get the grade you want! Lectures not technically mandatory but sections are.
I absolutely love Professor Morales. She is so funny and such a great storyteller. Lectures are not mandatory, but you will want to go to them. She made my day better every time. I'm genuinely sad that I won't be going back to this class again. Grading is super clear, the syllabus tells you exactly what you need to do to pass. So worth the GE.
Prof Morales is super funny and kind, clearly cares about her students. In the beginning of the class, you know what grade youre gonna receive based on the work you do. Reading was sometimes a bit much, like the Iliad, but its very doable. No papers, just an optional project if you want an A/B. Strongly recommend!
Prof. Morales is fantastic! She is super passionate and knowledgeable about Greek Myth, so her lectures are always interesting. The creative projects were kind of difficult, so make sure not to procrastinate on those and you will be fine. I also really liked her method of grading.
Prof. Morales is super funny for starters. The class is super easy. In her syllabus she clearly outlines how to get whatever grade you want. She even says that her class is extremely easy to pass and it is. Sections are mandatory, but going to lectures is not and it is not a big deal to skip them. Definitely would take again! Counts for writing &GE
Literally the easiest class ever. Lectures are highly optional, but section is mandatory. Prof. Morales told us that she wants her class to be easy and shamed people that aren't doing well, which is valid. Grading is clearly outlined in syllabus. Very little work. Prof. Morales spends most of lecture answering dumb questions through the Zoom chat.
Super sweet professor, you choose your own grade! She is very entertaining. There is definitely work but it is consistent every week (assignments are the same). No midterm/final. Can be used for writing credit. Professor is very easy to talk to.
Professor Morales made this class super fun, and lecture was never too overwhelming. There are weekly peer-grading assignments, plus a final paper and exam. The final paper is really open-ended and allows for a good amount of creativity. Professor Morales was super understanding about extensions/anything you need help with.
One of the most accommodating and coolest professors I've had so far. She's also a Beyoncé fan, which is all you need to know. I wish I had her in person!
She is a nice professor. Her lectures are interesting. Although there are writings every week, it is fine for me. The paper is hard, but the grading for the paper is fair. The only part I dislike is that she didnt post how the class will be grading in the beginning. She post the percentage of grades almost the end of the semester.
Professor Morales was amazing during spring 2020 online course. She clearly cares a lot for her students and tried her best to make the course accessible and fun during this crazy time. She does an awesome job of connecting greek myth to present times and is super fun in lectures.
Nicest lady ever! Her lectures are super funny and interesting even if you don't care at all about greek myth. She has been extremely understanding and lenient during COVID19 times and genuinely cares about students. Grade is participation, a paper, and a final. Easy A if you show up. Also reading was not necessary at all. Wish I had her in person
Not only are her lectures fun to watch (and she's pretty hip) but she's bending over backward to accommodate for COVID-19 inconveniences. I wish I could take a class with her in person!
Great prof! Easiest GE I have taken yet. 3 tests and she drops your lowest one. So you might not have to take a final!! Weekly homework assignments are very easy. I would show up because she doesn't post lectures and the tests feature lect material.
Morales is such an amazing professor. She really teaches the material well and clearly making her lectures fascinating. She sometimes can be a little rude, but she is also funny. She gives 3 midterms(one counted as the final) and you get to drop your lowest test grade. One of my favorite professors at UCSB so far :)
Easy A, but professor is rude and borderline condescending to students. Take this class for an easy, A but avoid if you don't want to deal with her belittling demeanor. Would take this class again, but not with this awful professor.
Fairly easy class as long as you take good notes in lecture and try to keep up with the short weekly readings (section was really helpful too!). The class itself was pretty interesting and listening to Professor Morales was sort of fun since she has an English accent.
Definitely an easy A! Her lectures were very interesting and her accent was fun to listen to. If you do well on both of the midterms then you don't have to go to the final (which means you don't have to go to the last three weeks of class). Great experience!
Mean and antagonistic. Doesn't create a comfortable teaching and learning environment
Go to lecture and take good notes. You'll pass! Lectures are really important. She doesn't post lectures online. Minimal reading. Only 2 super easy papers (1-2 pages). 3 multiple choice tests and lowest grade is dropped. Easy class especially if you're interested in Greek Myth.
A very interesting class and it was helpful that the professor was passionate about the subject. It's easy to get an A in the class as long as you do the readings (which are not that hard to keep up with) and attend lectures. The papers are pass/no pass and out of 3 exams, including the final, one will be dropped, so it's not a stressful class.
2 short papers (pass/no pass), 3 midterms (lowest score dropped & 3rd one is the final), participation. She uploads slides but they don't explain much so you have to go to lecture and take good notes. Know the myths or the tests will be even trickier. I got a C & a B on the midterms but did well on the last one and ended up with an A- in the class
