Worst English teacher I've had at UCSB and it's my minor. She makes her lectures much more complicated than they need to be, and seems to be more interested in sounding intelligent than actually being clear and teaching her students thoroughly. English 50 is great for fulfilling GE's, but definitely take with another professor. Must attent lectures

Great professor. Of course English 10 is just high school AP English again...this course has a lot of annoying things like tricky online quizzes and i-clickers. I switch backpacks a lot so that affected my grade more than necessary. But Ghosh does a great job of teaching the material and ensuring the class understands everything.

Lectures on poetry were excruciatingly boring, but once we got to "Frankenstein" things got better. No midterm or final, and only a few online quizzes and two papers which build off of previous assignments making them easy. Only take this class if it is required for your major!! It is boring, and I am an ENGL major, I am supposed to love this!

Lectures can get a little boring but and are fairly pointless (considering there is no midterm or final) but she's a very nice woman and you can tell she loves what she does. Very lenient and understanding when it comes to online quizzes and assignments (she gave us extra days for both of our papers). Uses iclickers for participation/attendance

The class itself was not a whole lot of work--2 papers, 2 smaller written assignments, no exams, 3 short online quizzes and there's a lot of time to get the assignments done. She is clearly knowledgeable but she tries to cover too much in one lecture/powerpoint. She laughs at EVERYTHING and her tone of voice is annoying. Class is very elementary.

the only issue with this class is her overloaded power points- they are so full that often times I missed what she was saying because I was writing everything down (which is crucial for this class); she is lenient with online quizzes and you are given a lot of time to complete assignments (1-2 weeks)

Pretty easy grader, interesting class and lectures, very knowledgeable, but when I wanted to meet with her outside of office hours she wasn't too accomodating

Oh I love her so much! She's everything you could want in a professor. Her course material is fresh and interesting an her lectures are challenging yet accessible. I have never had a professor who was this organized and on top of everything. She addresses every possible concern a student can have when it comes to grading. AMAZING PROFESSOR!

Professor Ghosh is extremely intelligent and entertaining. Her lectures were always a lot of fun and the reading material was relevant and easy to understand. Midterm and final weren't difficult if you keep up with most of the reading. She also communicates with her TA's frequently to keep them in check so grading was lenient.

Professor Ghosh is great! Definitely one of the best English professor in the department. Relatively easy if you do the reading, and keeps class discussions interesting.

Great teacher. Very interesting and approachable, I always try to take classes she is teaching!

Great and understanding teacher. Cool paper topic, and shows cool movies! Lectures are easy and should attend to. Also midterm and final were multiple choice along with id's and some essay questions, based on lectures and movies.

awesome teacher and class. she's really easy for such difficult concepts, the TAs seems to grade very easily too. she has a lot on her slides but posts what she thinks is most important from lecture. very interesting class and she chooses very interesting texts. we got to watch 2 movies (Bhowani Junction and the Guru) and X-files! helpful + nice

Hey. I am an ex-student from Prof. Ghosh's class at UC Davis. I must that she is one of the most articulate professors who always come up with great ideas. Very inspiring. VERY prepared for class.
