Excellent professor. At beginning of the quarter he promised that by the end of the class we would be able to look at another culture's suferings through its own eyes. He kept his promise, and by doing so opened an entire new world for me.

Hey, this is one of the most brillant guys I've ever heard. He breaks down history so it is relavant and interesting. 4a will never be easy, but if you go to lecture, you will come away with a lot of knowledge.

Go to his lectures, his lectures are very easy to follow. (if you go to lecture that is) He gives you most of the important things that are certainly going to be on the midterm/final. He is definitely not there to fail you, but to pass you.Great Prof.

Very good professor, but very hard class. He's so familiar with his subject matter that it makes the class difficult. Do the reading, and go to lecture.

A really good professor, funny, smart, and clearly has an excellent comprehension of his material. Unfortunately, this makes his class one of the hardest lower division social science classes at the university. His lectures are fun and informative.

His lectures were interesting and he's really funny. The papers are a pain in the butt (Great Man and contributions of West Civ)Take it if you have to-he doesn't focus on memorization and stuff like other history classes

Drake is an outstanding professor. If you listen and read and APPLY what you learn, which he fully expects of you, you will find your knowledge of Western Civ growing exponentially, along with your woodie as you stare down at your A in the course.

Drake knows the material and you will know it by the time class is over. He concentrates on the big picture and snuffs at history classes which require memorization and dates. He is awesome. Simply awesome.

professor drake is an excellent person to get to know. he is easy to talk to and has a great sense of humor on a one on one basis. on top of that he is extremely smart.

Great teacher! 4A is hard no matter what, but he really breaks things down for you so that they are easier to understand. Beware of the papers, that's the hardest part of the class. Just going to lecture really helps your chances of getting a good grade!

i thought he was a good teacher, a little werid at times but he gets the point across and really gets you to think, tests are fair, but papers are a little hard

My god....The lecture notes are terrible, the lectures themselves are terrible, and he expects so damned much in spite of his terrible teaching. Avoid at all costs!!!
