He post "lecture slides" that are photo copies of his notes from the reading that are impossible to read bc the ink is so faint and his cursive is extremely sloppy. But he will also get on you about your hand writing not being legible and will threaten to not grade your tests. Lecture is awful, he is too quiet and you cant read his writting.

Mr Frech is different from most UCSB professors. There is not a lot of hand-holding, and a lot of focus on the independent research abilities of the student. To some, this seems unstructured. To others, this made his course feel more like a post-graduate course. To do well in Mr Frech's class, you need to have a genuine interest in the subject.

Prof. Frech is very nice, and very knowledgeable of the material. This course suffered from a lack of organization, as well as a lack of practice materials. Had to read the textbook to learn because lecture-while interesting-didn't provide an expectation for tests. That being said, this is college - you'll have to open up a textbook eventually...

He is the worst professor you can possibly get in UCSB. There is no homework or practice questions. The only thing he provides is one past exam WITHOUT CORRECT ANSWERS. Midterm 40% and final 60%. The lecture has almost nothing to do with the exam, so you literally have to educate yourself by reading the textbook.

He doesn't teach with any kind of structure, so it's nearly impossible to know what to prepare for on exams, or how you should even approach studying. On top of that, his class is very tech-unfriendly, as there is no GS page (and thus no resources to help study) and he teaches off of a blackboard, which makes it very easy to miss important info.

Would not recommend taking this course. The structure is very unorganized and the lectures tend to be very sporadic in terms of quality.

only used the textbook to write my paper. lectures were interesting and did not feel too formal.

Really nice professor who is genuinely interested in the topics he teaches. He grades tough and his final is a little difficult but he curves your grade at the end. Definitely go to lecture and you can just skim through the reader and textbook. Got a 80% on paper and probably did average on the final. Still managed to get a B+

Really nice professor. Seems very interested in what he teaches. The entire grade depended on a paper and final. The final was hard because he was vague about the content. Overall an okay class. Great prof though

Frech is a genius and very friendly. A subject that could be extremely boring and mathematical turns into a whole interesting practical experience in which all concepts are related to real antitrust or other cases. Your aim is to understand the materials, not learn how t o do mechanical stuff. lecture and book (not all chapters) are super useful.

His lectures are completely boring and unclear, and there is no structure to the course. The book is also completely dense and he is horrible at explaining things.Midterm is tomorrow, should see how that goes. Nice guy, but horrible teacher so far

Very friendly and helpful if you ask. He wants students to be interested in the material. Grading scheme is fair. Tests can be tricky, but your chances of doing well increase with reading and paying attention to important lecture points. Would recommend.

Excellent teacher and very friendly.

Industrial Organization is pretty interesting, and Frech has a lot of stories from the field, which makes the class a lot better. The class isn't as quantitative as some other econ classes, but you still manipulate functions. You have to describe concepts a lot and how they apply to scenarios- if you read the book and go to class, it's pretty good.

A useful class, you study property, contract and tort law. Lectures are a bit scattered. There is only a paper with presentation and a final, based off all the presentations. Important to keep up with readings, because he just expects you to know the material and apply it to the presentations on the final. A interesting class and not a tun on work

Don't expect a clear, definite, and straight-forward answer from him. The lectures are somewhat interesting and the materials are definitely useful. The exams and the paper are manageable if you do your work.
