professor Han is very kind and passionate to teach. She does all she can to help students understand the material (which is complex indeed), and provided us with very well-written slides. The homework did take a long time to finish however you do them in groups which is helpful.

Lectures were all over the place, sometimes with errors. Grading is very slow.

Ah, she was confusing, but I would blame that on the class itself. She is a nice lady, and she is trying her best.

She is a nice person, not a particularly tough grader, but be prepared to learn next to nothing about actual CHE thermo. The hws are 90% coding in MATLAB, for obvious reasons does not teach one much about thermo but instead about coding. She claims we will re-use the code in future courses,I'd rather learn thermo, deal with coding when it comes.

Her lectures were not very helpful, and learning from the book is almost better. She tries really hard to make us understand but it can be frustrating and boring. I thought the subject matter was a little harder than 110A, and there was a lot of tedious coding involved in the homeworks (which took a long time). Start them early

Dr Han is one of the greatest professors In the chemistry department. She doesnt shy away from difficult material but shes willing to spend the time to explain if you are. Even with a very busy schedule she makes it happen for her students, and truly cares about their well being and interests. Never done a RMF post but she deserves a way better!!

she'll post her lecture online but it seems meaningless because she was teaching as same as the book. just read the book by yourself.

Take good notes during lectures - they help you tremendously for the homework, and you want to do well on the homework because it will help you when the final grades come in. Read assigned readings. Take the practice midterm and final she posts; it is not the same, but questions are similar to the test she will give. She is also friendly

Overall, Songi was a very fair professor. Her lectures cover book topics, and can be perfectly supplemented by doing the book reading. This part is crucial: do the book reading! It is a challenging class, but it's a class where effort determines your grade. One midterm and one final.

Great professor! To be sure, physical chemistry is challenging no matter who teaches it. That said, I think Dr. Han does it exceptionally well- no curveballs. Take great notes, then take notes on relevant text (not all text is covered). Ask lots of questions in office hours. Get all HW points (you'll need them). Do many extra problems on your own.

I had prof. Han for Chem 1c. This was probably the best chem class I've had so far. She explained the material very well. she did not cover as much as other professors, but she went more in depth. Make sure that you go to her office hours. Believe me you will be glad that you did.

She is such a sweet lady. She really understands what material is difficult for her students. She gives extensions on hw and her tests arent that hard. Watch out for the final though. I got an A on both midterms, and came out with a C+ with my final grade. Bombed it! Go to her office hours!

Not nearly as bad as eveyone on here says. She goes over everything she expects you to know, and gave practice midterms and finals. It's not any easy class but she did a good job with it

Absolutely horrible teacher. Definitely steer clear of her. I went into this class enjoying chemistry and came out hating it. She's completely unhelpful and has no idea how to teach.

OMG worst chem teacher EVER. Don't take her if you want to keep your grades. Her lectures are incomprehensible and even if you read the book as i did, it won't help you on the tests because she drops random questions that make no sense. The class average was a Fail so that says something...

CHEM113A . 15 Years Ago

She has a bad reputation here, but i found her class interesting and fairly straight forward. the subject matter was challenging to be sure, but for the most part she was very clear about what she expected on the homework and exams. Don't freak out if you have her, she's very friendly and brilliant.

She sucks!!! She CAN'T teach at all!! Sometimes, she looks more confused than students. Gave crazy Homeworks. Come on!! I paid all this money for this kind of professor?!

Even having gotten an A- in the class, I still think Han should never teach again and I am sure she probably doesnt want to. Any professor who has a "no email policy" or who simply tells you to "read the book" when asked a question even having read about what i was confused on should stick to research only.

shes a crazy lady with crazy exams. DO NOT TAKE HER. i repeat, DO NOT HAVE HER AS YOUR PROFESSOR.

Flat out horrible teacher. Thanks to her I have to retake chem, and it's not because I didn't study. I went to CLAS, read the chapters in the book (twice), and even hired a private tutor. Her tests are ridiculously hard and a class average of an F?!?! Geez...it's not advanced physics. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

CHEM1C . 16 Years Ago

Probably the worst teacher I've ever had in my life. Cannot understand a thing she says and the difficulty of questions she uses on tests is way beyond what she covers in lecture, on homework or anywhere in the book. A's in Chem 1A and 1B. B+ in her class. Not horrible but could have done so much better with any other teacher.

CHEM1C . 16 Years Ago

there couldnt be a worst teacher. Lectures are unclear and not interesting at all. Youd learn more if you just read the book. Refuses to give practice tests and drops random questions in the midterms so I expect the same for the final. Not very responsive or helpful. Quite frustrating in her class because she confused me more than anything else

CHEM1C . 16 Years Ago

never taking a class that she teaches again. makes it so hard without having the right to do so because her teaching abilities are way below average. She jumps back and forth between subjects and changes what she says a lot. As mentioned, class average should NOT be a 59%!! Chem is hard enough without having your teacher making it worst

CHEM1C . 16 Years Ago

I dont know how she was chosen to teach this class. Perhaps she's a good researcher but when it comes to teaching, I don't think it can get any worse. She lectures straight out of the book so going to lecture is not even necessary. My CLAS tutors taught me more than she ever did. Notes are confusing and she doesnt really offer help. Anyone but her!
