Easy class but she doesn't do that much in terms of teaching. Most of the stuff you will learn through practice during the discussion sections, which are mandatory.

She did a excellent job explaining material. You can tell she really loves her job and seems very approachable. Midterms are easy, ad long as you do the lab, projects, homework. Final was the easiest I had of all my classes.

She's alright... Exams pretty difficult.

Love her. She will explain things in class as best she can but be prepared to ask questions when you don't understand or she will move on. Definitely go to office hours she is super nice and easy to talk to and very helpful. CS5 kids don't know what they are talking about. CS is obviously a rough subject unless you actually care about programming.

Good teacher, can explain concepts well. 1 HW programming assignment each week, one lab program each week. Able to use notes a page of notes on both midterms, and two pages on the final. Take this class only if you are into computers, otherwise you will most likely be lost.

I thought she was a good teacher. I had no programming experience prior to the class, but i thought I got a lot out of it. Midterms were pretty easy; the final was more difficult, but thats why its the final. Really thorough in class and welcomes any questions during lecture.

Often unclear about what she wants. Many mistakes on exams or homework assignments. Reuses old course material without updating information. Relatively boring in lecture.

Good Teacher. Homework was very hard. Midterms are ok and Final was ridiciously hard. Dont expect an easy A in this class. She goes very fast so read the book if you dont understand or get help from someone that knows it well. Practice programs that are related to get better. CS 5 is not an easy course. So Study hard.

Know what to expect, fair grading. Lectures are rather slow, but that is typical. Good class.

She doesn't introduce the material very well, and students without prior programming experience might have a tough time piecing together the first 3 weeks. Once we reached the point in the year where we were had a grasp for the structure of java itself the lectures become much clearer. The homework is somewhat random. The test average is ~ b+

Very bad at explaining things in class. Easier to learn from messing around with java than from her.

Sucks at clarifying what she wants on assignments, test questions aren't clear. Extremely unprepared and disorganized lectures. Knows how to program, but doesn't know how to teach. Bearable, but needlessly frustrating. Avoid.

Total nutjob. Avoid her at all costs. She took an already flawed medium (powerpoint slides) and made them even worse (pulled key terms and put them online that way to encourage (read: force) attendance).

Completely ridiculous class to take unless you already know programming. Funny thing is the class is intended for people who have never programmed before. The final was way beyond what beginners are supposed to know, and when I wrote to her to explain she didn't even bother to respond.

Labs were very unclear and difficult. Lectures were impossible to pay attention in. She is not afraid to fail her students. Avoid at all costs.

She's very approachable in office hours, but the class is very difficult unless you have programmed before. I did well on the two midterms, but the final was nothing like that. Her homework assignments get very difficult, and I'd usually get only partial credit even after going into her and the TA office hours. The final was unfairly difficult.

She is a Machine, It is like having lecture with a robot, Unable to understand, Her teaching style is non existent and she is far to caught up in her own research to understand the basic computer understanding of a majority of her students, Her problem is that she came into this class with assumptions of the level of student knowledge...Beware!!!

She is very disorganized. I did not understand why she taught computer science with chalk. What she wrote wasn't even readable. What she said wasn't understandable. Her office hours was a waste of time. I recommend taking a professor who lectures with prepared lecture notes.

This class was difficult. It's important to attend lecture and discussion in order to understand what's going on. But she's willing to answer questions and she responds to emails quickly.

Unorganized and confused.

This instructor was dull and difficult to follow. Only 20% of the grade was given during the beggining of the quarter and 80% was all in the end when we were all busy and exhausted. There was no final exam and she gave Fs to people who attended her classes and understood the material well.
