I find it interesting that Stan's gotten some bad ratings. He was a great teacher when it came to Latin and very helpful. It's a hard class, you have to be willing to work and Stan will definitely help you learn the language. I definitely came out of the class with a better understanding of the language after this class!

Another disappointing quarter.......... When will Stan give up?

After taking Latin 1 I was really close to giving up on it, but Stan made Latin 2 so much fun and approachable that I decided to stick it out and am in upper division Latin now. He is also doesn't make you feel bad when you make mistakes.

Stan is a very funny guy, just don't let him in front of a class. His tests are unfair and he doesn't explain things right.

Considering he recently won the Outstanding Teaching Assistant award he has surprisingly low reviews on here. Of all three Latin teachers I've had at UCSB he was definitely my favorite. It really just depends on the style of teacher you need and luck of the draw. I wouldn't put too much clout on these reviews.

He's a nice guy, but also fairly lazy. Doesn't explain things well, is pretty useless when going over tests or other material as he just reiterates what he already said or what you did wrong with no explanation. Bottom line is he's funny, but not very good at teaching a dead language. Avoid if possible, unless you have someone else to tutor you.

Class was tough but he was great. Great sense of humor. He is not overly friendly but he is nice.

Disorganized, Incomprehensible, and Unapproachable.

Disorganized and lacks motivation. Disrespectful to students. Needs to take a sensitivity training course. Tests are invalid. The list goes on and on. AVOID THIS TEACHER!

Incompetent. No classroom organization. Constantly provides wrong information about the material.

Great teacher, very personable! Tests not easy, but that has more to do with subject material.
