Hard topic but Professor Gordon made it very easy to understand. His lectures are super clear and answer almost any questions you could have. Initially comes off as very serious but he's great to talk to and connect with for advice or anything about your college career. I also had him for ChE 10 and everything I previously said applies.
G-Money! Truly made thermodynamics understandable and I feel very prepared going into 110B. I highly recommend Professor Gordon for any class he offers.
Truly the GOAT of the chemical engineering department. I enjoyed ChE 10 so much and appreciate Professor Gordon's willingness to help his students and his disdain for loud noises outside of our classroom.
Chillest prof ever, grades very fairly and cares about his students, also super witty and funny. His fast, all-over-the-place lecture style is a little jarring at first but you get used to it. Can't go wrong with this guy
Hands down the best professor I've had at UCSB. Difficult material but Professor Gordon teaches it perfectly.
Genuinely my favorite teacher that I have had at this school.
A real gem! Thoroughly enjoyed my time in CH E 10 with Professor Gordon. I thought he was pretty funny as well and made the material really interesting and easy to comprehend.
Perfect Professor, no trivial grading rubric and owns good sense of humor in class
Had Mike for 180A, 180B, and 289A. His playful sarcasm takes a little getting used to, but he makes a genuine effort to help and get to know students. Straightforward lectures, assignments, and grading criteria. If you need help, just ask. He can come off serious at first, but is easy to talk to once you get to know him a little bit.
Gordon is the best. He makes everything easy to understand. No need for book just his lectures.
One of the best! His sense of humor is great!!
Easily the BEST professor/teacher I have ever had in my life. Turned what could potentially have been a difficult subject into a serious joke (difficulty wise). Can be intimidating sometimes, but you WILL learn.
Easily the best overall professor in chemical engineering department, and I've had most of them. He has very useful, clear lectures in which you actually learn how to apply knowledge on HW/exams (not just deriving equations). He has a great attitude towards undergrads, is a funny guy, and always flexible about assignment due dates.
Easily one of the best professors at UCSB. I had him for ChE 132A and B, and going to his lectures was enough to master what could have been an extremely diffucult subject. He loves to help students outside of class, and personally I think his sense of humor is awesome. He should teach more ChE classes!!
BEST. PROFESSOR. EVER.
One of the best professors I have EVER had. Lectures were organized and engaging, even at 8am. Homework and Mathematica assignments were interesting, challenging, and relevant. Exams were fair, with lots of partial credit given. Professor Gordon was always willing to take the time to help students. I would DEFINITELY take another class with him.
The best professor of all time. His lectures are very useful, and he's very helpful outside of class. He's taught me more math in one class than all the math classes in college combined. The class itself, however, was tough. Consider it rite of passage for chemical engineering.
Clearly and quickly describes everything you need to know, without additional rubbish. Simplifies every problem to it's essential components. One of the few CH E professors that lecture without notes, and gets 99.9% of it right, 100% of the time. Very involved with even the most unresponsive class. Ask him any question anywhere you can find him.
Hail the best professor in all UCSB. He is loved by 99.99% of his students. There was a CH E car activity group dedicated to him called Team Gordon. People want him to teach every single one of our classes so that our brain is not a steady state process but actually accumulates so much knowledge. Again, Gordon, we all love you so much. Get a tenure
Give this man tenure!
This class is very time consuming. The Home work is ridiculously long. It will take you 3 days of work to finish it. Prof. Gordn's lecture is absolutely USELESS. He is also unhelpful in his office hours. Instead of going to his lecture, READ the book. Everything will make sense when you read the book. Be prepared for his final. It will make you cry
Gordon is an excellent teacher! He managed to teach me more calculus in one quarter than the any of my math professors did in 2 years. His final exam was pretty hard, but fair.
He is a great professor - he is very knowledgeable, and truly wants his students to learn and understand. He is very approachable and is one of the smartest people you'll meet. His HW is LONG, but it really helps you understand the material and do well on the tests. Midterms=Medium / Final=REALLY hard. Requires hard work, but you'll learn a lot.
The homework and term paper were normal. The midterms were hard and harder, and the final was insane. Seems like the professor is new still trying to prove himself here by giving exams that one would expect at UC Berkeley. I personally would recommend anyone else who does the reverse (difficult hw/proj, normal midterms, easy final).
