Malmandier is awesome! He's a great person (with a cool German accent and a muscled body that could crush you). Pay attention in class and fully understand the practice exams/final and you can't go wrong.

Amazing professor - he is very knowledgeable and explains things fairly well. Do the homework and UNDERSTAND THE PRACTICE TESTS he posts before tests - they're a good representation of test material. Also, he always wears tight shirts, looks like a bodybuilder and sounds like the terminator (a plus for the ladies).

What can I say? Malmendier is the BEST math professor you could get. He's very helpful! Ask him a question and he WILL answer you. There are NO stupid questions! Lectures are pretty interesting even though he mentions physics. His office hours are the BEST way to get help from him. If you email him he replies ASAP. RECOMMENDED!

Awesome professor! Explained everything really well. Exams and homework were difficult but he was very willing to go over and clarify anything. Practice exams were exactly like the real tests so it was easy to study. Definitely recommend him!

really one of the best math teachers i've come across in the math deparment. He is willing to listen to the students and adjusted his tests after seeing how abysmal everyone did on the first midterm.

Awesome professor. Really truly cares about the students doing well, clarifies any small question you might have regardless of how simple it might seem. Put a lot of effort into this class and making sure he gave his students all the necessary tools to succeed. Highly recommend. German accent made it interesting too (we will be subSTRACTing...)!

As others have said, this man is awesome. Many times has he sat with me after class and talked for 20 minutes. Not always about math. He always wants to help, and goes through topics well, stopping for any questions. Plus, its obvious the girls totally want his nuts.

Absolutely fabulous teacher! One of the best UCSB math department has. Definitely a hard class but he teaches the material very well. Great hand writing and very well prepared for all his lectures. Homework is very hard but doable. Definitely recommend him for this class

Really really nice guy who tries to help everyone and does reveiws before the midterms. He's also some sort of bodybuilder so girls like that. He is german and says some odd but funny things in class (like he said "suppose you are a creature living on the graph" in a funny) when he was talking about arclength. He's good, take if you can.

Thought he was a good teacher. His lectures relfected the difficulty of his exams and the review materials were very helpful. The only problem i had was that his examples in class lectures are a lot simpler than the ones on the homework. And as everyone has commented, he's real nice on the eyes. Great eye candy.

I absolutely love him. His midterms are exactly like his practice exams, very flexible with grading the only problem is that the book does not help at all don’t bother buying it. He does not allow calculators but the tests are so easy you do not need them. He is also great to look at and has a great accent.

he tries hard.....but his lectures do not help with the homework. the concepts presented in lecture rarely actually are all needed in homework, but he leaves out important info in lecture. on the plus side: he's very fair at grading and is nice enough to be felxiable with due dates. im getting a c now, but still think he's a fair teacher.

He's pretty flexible about due dates and policies as long as you talk to him about it. He also sends out a million e-mails a week, its pretty cute. I never listened to him, but you can figure out the homework on your own, and he's not bad to look at when you feel like paying attention.

He teaches the really basic concepts in class and it all seems really easy until you get the homework and it's 300x harder. Not very helpful. He's a nice guy, but he's goofy...he should give up teaching and be a male model instead.
