First off he sounds like Kermit the frog. He seems to be very excited about chemisty but can't seem to teach it very well. Midterms were kind of hard and the final was really difficult. CLAS was a lot more useful than lecture. He liked to use iclicker daily. Lots of cool demonstrations though.

CHEM1 . 14 Years Ago

This class is mandatory for all Science majors, so of course, its not going to be fun. This is a weeder class. There is a ton of homework. Anderson does not explain concepts well AT ALL! There is no point in going to class except for iClicker points. CLAS is super helpful and i would definitely recommend it! Good luck!

pretty good teacher. he does his best to help the class pass. there's a lot of hw, but all chem teachers give the same amount of hw. lecture helps but if not then just go to the book or the internet. the lectures can get boring sometimes too. but overall, he's a nice teacher.

Great Guy, had him Fall 08 quarter. I loved the demonstrations! Tests were multiple choice and fairly straightforward, with some studying. Homework was important for the tests, which could be completed in a snap with CLAS. Keeps the atmosphere light with jokes. Recommended!

He was a fun chemistry teacher, but not the best at explaining things. The first midterm was extremely easy but the second one was pretty tough. The final was challenging as well. Way too much homework.

standerson's a good professor. his tests are on the easy side but there's almost no curve. he kinda get's confused with his own extra credit things and the curve isn't as good as you would hope. he does a lot of practice problems and if you pay attention in class and take notes, you'll be good for the homework and just study a bit for the tests.

Good teacher. Kept things clear and simple. A little too simple at times as the tests and homework were always more difficult then what we did in class. Read the book before lecture. I did not do it enough and this definitely brought my grade down.

tests are multiple choice and sorta hard, but barely any curves. lots of webassign work. doesnt always explain things very well- definitely do CLAS if you havent done an advanced chem class before. nice guy, does demonstrations.

Great person, average professor. For sure knows what he's talking about & tries best to convey concepts, but not always successful. very funny, loves to do demonstrations. can tell he loves chem. also, lots of webassign homework on weekly basis but tests are always multiple choice. curve not so great, but better than nothing. i recommend him!

Pretty good professor. He's a good chemist. He's not always the best at explaining the concepts but he usually gets them across. Take copious notes in class. He sends you an email before every class telling you what to read and how to practice prior to lecture. I didn't use the book much at all. Definitely sign up for CLAS. Huge help.

This guy is hilarious and quite fun to listen to. He does fun demonstrations almost every class period. You have to attend your labs but not the lectures. I hate chemistry, but he makes it bearable. He is kind of old so he makes a lot of old person mistakes like mistaking K as Calcium etc., but it is not a huge issue.

Cool/funny guy. Relatively easy class if you've had chem before or you keep up on hw or reading. Lectures can be kind of boring but overall he's a pretty good teacher and tests aren't too bad if you know the material.

The homework is generally easy. He's a very silly old man, and does a lot of demonstrations in class. You can tell he loves chemistry, and does his best to explain it. not always is the material explained clearly. I had to use CLAS for most of my instruction. We had a very high average on our midterm though, compared to other classes at the time.
